For example, my wife is terrified of frogs, something that my little daughter and I consider extremely harmless, but that makes her tremble and turn pale with fear, which has always led me to the question of why the fear, but neither She herself is capable of giving me an answer that makes me understand it, I suppose it is something that comes from her childhood, but that she cannot remember.

Phobias are irrational and disproportionate fears towards specific objects, situations or people. They can arise from traumatic experiences, social pressure, genetics, among other factors. It is important to understand that phobias are not simply quirks or weaknesses, but are real mental disorders that can seriously affect a person's quality of life.

It is essential to address phobias from childhood, since it is at this stage of life when the foundations of our personality and behaviors are established. One of the best things we can do about this is to educate our children about fear, since this is a natural emotion and we are all afraid at some point in our lives. The best way to do this is to encourage open communication and emotional support so that children can express their fears without feeling judged.

Something a little more complicated to do, since you have to be very tactful for it, is to gradually expose them to fears, since these situations that generate fear can help them overcome their phobias in a controlled and safe way, but as I said previously , we must be very careful with this, because if things do not go as planned, the fear can worsen.

Also, we must avoid reinforcing fear with overprotective behaviors or completely avoiding feared situations. To do this, the best thing to do is to provide them with support and encouragement, so that they are able to face their fears gradually.

I am sure that if I had shared this situation with my wife during her childhood, it would have been of great support to her in overcoming this phobia, because at this point that fear is deeply rooted in her thoughts, which is why I consider it essential Address phobias from childhood to prevent them from developing into more serious disorders in adulthood.
