Fragility

In recent days, we’ve been able to see what fragility really is. Genuine fragility—that of someone who is open to all his brothers and sisters, who shares his fears, and who isn’t afraid to ask for help. I’m talking about Pope Leo XIV.

He learned he had a lung condition. He didn’t hide it from the world or from anyone. He acknowledged that it was something he would have to face, but despite his trust in God, he asked that people pray for him.

Another kind of vulnerability is the kind that is disguised as confidence. And we see this in the President of the United States. He pretends to be in control of situations, when in fact others are manipulating him, because he tries to hide his vulnerabilities from everyone. Instead of acknowledging that he has limitations, he wants to shift those limitations onto others. And we see that he is now saying he is not a fan of President Zelensky, and that Zelensky should consider calling elections, since he has been in power for too long and faces opposition—according to Trump—that cannot be sustained for much longer. But what he actually feels is a profound sense of powerlessness in the face of Putin. Putin must know something that could bring Trump’s entire political career crashing down. Something that might even be connected to the Epstein files scandal.

Trump says that Ukraine’s attack on Russian refineries is leading to a global diesel shortage, which is causing a spike in the prices of non-renewable fuels.

Of course, he knows full well that what caused the price spike has nothing to do with Ukraine’s defense or the attack on Russian refineries, since that attack is nothing new. Prices began to rise with the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, which he triggered out of fear of Iran’s nuclear weapons.

Trump is changing the entire game, the entire chessboard, just to save face. Just so he doesn’t appear weak.

So what is true weakness? Is it someone who acknowledges their fears and shares them with the community—with those who love them and those who hate them—or is it someone who hides their weaknesses behind unfounded attacks on others, never letting anything fall on themselves?

That’s a question I leave for you to ponder.

Here’s something for you to think about.

First of all, I want to apologize for not yet responding to your comments on my posts. I’ve been a little swamped with work these past few weeks. A new opportunity has come up—I’ll write a bit about it in due time... It starts this Monday and Tuesday... Wish me luck :)
