Art Talk: Aqua Blue and Amber Chandelier

in Art Talk2 years ago

For 6 months I have been going to the Desert Botanical Garden regularly. Now I want to share pictures of pieces in Chihuly in the Desert that I have taken at different times of day, through different seasons and light.

Dale Chihuly
Aqua Blue and Amber Chandelier , 2011
11½ x 6½ x 6' (3.5m x 1.98m x 1.82m)
Blown glass and Steel
Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, Arizona

According to the Chihuly website;

Chihuly’s Chandeliers are composed of hundreds of blown glass elements that together, make up elaborate, intricate compositions. Chihuly has created them for spaces indoors and out, all around the world.

I admire his creativity and changing his chandeliers so the could be out in the open air of the gardens! So clever. He put it right in the agave garden.

It was great cause you can see it from tow different bridges.

The colors and textures and movement are all incredible.

Most people think of the desert as brown and cactus all around. There are quite a few trees and palms. I found this view where nature is framing the sculpture so beautifully.

The sculptures are all wonderful in the day and at night too, all lit up.

The jewel tones of this piece are something special. We see the same amber color from the Opal and Amber Tower mixed with yellow, greens and blues. Stunning!

that must be a pretty cool botanical garden.. is it like an openair exhibition in the garden or are those sculptures always there? but for sure the material, glass really fits into the desert surrounding, has an awesome effect!!

Hi @kesityu.fashion it is a wonderful garden. I have had a membership for about 15 years. It is a 6 month exhibit that is sadly coming to an end in June.

hmm well it looks like you had a good share of it:) I am glad you could enjoy it!! so there is going to be another exhibition after that I guess?

Yes, different exhibits come to the garden. I had a great time cause I really like Chihuly and travel to other gardens and states to see the exhibits. It was so fun to have it 20 minutes away and a membership to go whenever I would like.

thats really nice yes!!:)

This one reminds me of a squid or some other type of sea creature. Very cool as always. I can see why you like the artist so much.

Yes, it does look like a cool sea creature! I am highlighting all the pieces in the garden and then I am going to do a really cool highlight of the whole exhibition!

Nice!. I look forward to it.
