Cassy the cat lives with my aunt in the Scottish countryside. The cottage they live in dates back to the early 1700s and has its own resident ghosts. There are woods and streams nearby with lots of places for a cat to wander by herself. This summer when we visited I took Flame along, much to Cassy's indignation. Hamish, the other of my aunt's cats, stood up to Flame with a hissful of claws and was never again bothered. Cassy however, got chased across the garden by - horror of horrors - a dog! She remained watchful and aloof thereafter, occasionally throwing me a reproachful pair of eyes.
