Calotes Mystaceus · 3 pics

in Amazing Nature4 years ago (edited)

I have published a lot of photos of lizards in my blog. While traveling in Europe, I came across different types of them — huge green ones in Greece or golden ones in Spain. But only after visiting Asia, I discovered absolutely amazing species of lizard with a very long tail and a large blue head!

Fortunately, Google quickly told me that these creatures are called Calotes Mystaceus or Indo-Chinese forest lizard. During the mating period, males of this species change the color of the front part of the body to a bright blue color.

Only thanks to the telephoto lens I manage to shoot these amazing and very nimble creatures.

Wow, beautiful photograph. But the blue head is very scary, often heard, more colorful the insect is more poisonous.

Don't worry, lizards are not insects. ;) Thank you for your feedback!

Did not knew about this lizard. Thanks for the interesting and informative post.
