It is not just about the sand and waves

Even though this is what most people go to the beach for. But there is more than just sand, water, more sand and some sunburns to catch.

A little bit further from the waves on the drier sand plants decided to move in. This is what I would normally go to the beach for. To look for all the tough little ones that sand and wind cannot scare.

Pink Silene littorea is probably the cutest one. With short stems, small leaves and very bright pink flowers. Looks so delicate, but they grow all over the sand, some of them pretty covered too.

Yellow Senecio gallicus is not any worse. With larger yellow flower they attract insects. I am not even sure how deep in the sand the stem reaches. The wind probably covers and uncovers them all the time.

The tiny little bush on the left is Thyme. The bushes grow quite nicely around. This looks like a tip of one.

Unopened buds of Seseli tortuosum.

And a Sedum sediforme that in summer blooms with bright yellow flowers. Those are my favourite of them all. Even though they have no flowers. The way they look is just awesome with the long stems and just some leaves at the top.

Those also get covered by the sand a lot and sometimes just the few cm of the tip sticks out. Yes, I tried to dig in the sand to see how deep the stem goes and I have up :p

The moisture from the ocean makes Lichen grow everywhere!

In the end I can still go pick some shells.

Thanks :)

In the Western US we have something called curlycup gumweed (Grindelia squarrosa) that looks a bit like your yellow aster. The plant grows in the desert. It has short succulent leaves. The bud and seed produce a gummy substance.

The flowers are very similar indeed, yours is much bigger though.
Gumweed - cool name :))

The little pink flower is cute, but the yellow flower really steals the show! I always think yellow flowers are very cheerful looking! Love them! 😊

I like how the little pink ones pop among all the sand around.

AMAZING WORK.

Thank you :)

🥰
My favorite flowers and sand

Adorable things, aren't they?

Definitely Yes 🥰

I love the little pops of pretty on the beaches. The yellow is delightful. I love the shells. I walk to the beach every day when I am at the other house.

I love the beach in the winter!

I wish I had the ocean beach closer.. I would be there more often too.

Winter beaches are super cool! Hardly any people and big waves :) I prefer those than the summer ones.

I do too! It is the best because it is almost empty. Just you, the birds, and the waves.

The picture you shared today looks really amazing my friend

Thank you!
