El día de hoy les traigo una planta enredadera con unas flores muy esplendorosas, que se asemejan a unas trompetas. Es conocida a nivel científico con el nombre de Ipomoea Purpurea, aunque se le conoce por varios nombres comunes, entre ellos Manto de María, Aurora de México, Campanilla Morada, Suspiro de Chile, Campanilla Morada.
Today I bring you a climbing plant with very splendid flowers, which resemble trumpets. It is known scientifically by the name of Ipomoea Purpurea, although it is known by several common names, among them, Mantle of Mary, Aurora of Mexico, Purple Bell, Sigh of Chile.
Aunque, el nombre con que se conoce más ampliamente a esta planta originaria de América Central es Gloria de la Mañana. Denominación que se debe a que sus esplendidas flores, nacen con el inicio de la mañana pero al caer la tarde irremediablemente su vida llega a su fin. Las inflorescencias dependen tanto de la luz solar que en los días nublados rara vez florecen.
Although, the name by which this plant, native to Central America, is more widely known is Morning Glory. This name is due to the fact that its splendid flowers are born at the beginning of the morning, but when the afternoon falls, their life comes to an end. The inflorescences depend so much on sunlight that on cloudy days they rarely bloom.
Esta planta radica alrededor del mundo en las regiones tropicales y templadas, prevaleciendo en parajes exteriores. Es común verla enredada en estructuras como rejas y muros o extendidas por el campo, pudiendo alcanzar hasta 3 metros de alto. Sus grandes hojas asemejan grandes corazones y en su tallo se puede observar una especie de vellosidad.
This plant is found around the world in tropical and temperate regions, prevailing in outdoor locations. It is common to see it entangled in structures such as fences and walls or spread out in the countryside, reaching up to 3 meters high. Its large leaves resemble large hearts and a kind of hairiness can be observed on its stem.
En el caso de sus vistosas inflorescencias en forma de trompetas o campanas tienen un gran tamaño que va de 3 a 6 cm de diámetros. Y aunque predominan las de color azul, purpura y blanco, también se le puede ver en el hermoso color rosa que les traigo en esta oportunidad en mis fotografías.
In the case of its showy inflorescences in the form of trumpets or bells, they have a large size ranging from 3 to 6 cm in diameter. And although the blue, purple and white ones predominate, it can also be seen in the beautiful pink color that I bring you in this opportunity in my photographs.
Finalmente, encontré un dato interesante sobre esta planta enredadera, resulta que sus semillas son algo toxicas y generan efectos alucinógenos, similares a los de la droga LSD. Los efectos psicodélicos que produce, en algunas culturas Americanas le han otorgado a esta planta connotaciones religiosas al ser parte de sus ritos sagrados.
Finally, I found an interesting fact about this vine plant, it turns out that its seeds are somewhat toxic and generate hallucinogenic effects, similar to those of the drug LSD. The psychedelic effects it produces, in some American cultures have given this plant religious connotations to be part of their sacred rites.

Pretty shades of pink! Morning glories are one of my favourite flowers and the plant is very easy to grow. I pick off the dried seeds from the vine at the end of the season to use tge following Spring.
I need to be careful now that I learned the seeds are toxic! @francyrios75
