Hoy les traigo otras de las bellezas que nos regala día a día nuestra asombrosa naturaleza, las flores popularmente conocidas como Celestinas. Son una especie arbustiva perteneciente al género Plumbago y en el ámbito científico es conocida por el nombre Plumbago Auriculata.
Today I bring you other beauties that our amazing nature gives us every day, the flowers popularly known as Celestinas. They are a bush species belonging to the genus Plumbago and in the scientific field is known by the name Plumbago Auriculata.
En la actualidad, este arbusto se encuentra diseminado por casi todo el mundo, se ha vuelto muy popular a nivel ornamental, debido a sus hermosos ramitos conformados por pequeñas y hermosas inflorescencias.
At present, this shrub is scattered throughout almost the entire world, it has become very popular at an ornamental level, due to its beautiful twigs made up of small and beautiful inflorescences.
El género agrupa a 15 especies perennes, entre las cuales se encuentra la especie que hoy les muestro en las imágenes, está en particular se desarrollas en climas tropicales. Sin embargo, algunas especies, también habitan en climas templados.
The genus groups 15 perennial species, among which is the species that I show you today in the images, it is particularly developed in tropical climates. However, some species also inhabit temperate climates.
Las flores Celestinas que hoy les comparto como pueden observar son blancas, pero también las podemos encontrar en los tonos azul, púrpura, rosado y rojo, aunque al menos aquí en Venezuela las más comunes son las blancas y las azules.
The Celestinas flowers that I share with you today as you can see are white, but we can also find them in blue, purple, pink and red tones, although at least here in Venezuela the most common are white and blue.
Este arbusto no es muy exigente en cuanto a los cuidados, sin embargo, requiere de un riego frecuente. Un detalle interesante sobre esta planta trepadora, es que está incluida en el grupo de las plantas protocarnívoras. Esto se debe, a que en la parte de su inflorescencia conocida como cáliz posee pelitos que le permiten atrapar insectos, aunque a ciencia cierta, no se tiene certeza sobre el objetivo de este mecanismo. Ya que, podría interpretarse como un mecanismo defensivo en contra de algunos insectos nocivos o para limitar la polinización solo a ciertos insectos.
This shrub is not very demanding in terms of care, however, it requires frequent watering. An interesting detail about this climbing plant is that it is included in the group of protocarnivorous plants. This is due to the fact that in the part of its inflorescence known as the calyx it has hairs that allow it to catch insects, although with certainty, there is no certainty about the objective of this mechanism. Since, it could be interpreted as a defensive mechanism against some harmful insects or to limit pollination only to certain insects.
