Welcome Dear Photography Lovers
Bienvenidos Queridos Amantes de la Fotografía
Greetings dear community of #AmazingNature, it is always nice to be with you again, for this opportunity, I bring you a plant that, if I'm honest, I'm not sure how it came to my garden. I think it came in a small group of succulent plants that were part of an arrangement that some thesis students gave me a few years ago during the presentation of their degree work. The fact is that it has survived on its own, and what do I say, it has survived, because little by little it has invaded the space of many other plants, even that of my orchids.
But without further ado, this small plant as you can see in the title of this publication is botanically called Kalanchoe Daigremontiana. Although popularly it is known by many names, of course, depending on the region, some of them are Madagascar Lizard Plant, Devil's Backbone, Aranto, Always Alive and Mother of Thousands. This last name, is due to its peculiar style of reproduction, it turns out that in all the edges of its leaves it produces many tiny seedlings, or rather new seedlings. These new shoots, which by the way, already have small roots, are easily detached and when they fall on the ground, they develop with great ease, amazing, isn't it?
This species belongs to the Crassulaceae family, better known as succulents, specifically to the Kalanchoe, a genus that groups more than a hundred species. Endemic in some places, it is supposed to be native to Madagascar, although there are those who believe that it really comes from Latin America, the truth is that nowadays we can find it in many places with tropical or subtropical climate.
It is a plant at a general level, very strong and requires little care, now, with regard to its habitat, it prefers arid or semi-arid places, since it does not favor excess water. On the other hand, it is suitable for both shade and sun, although I must emphasize that it requires enough light, which, if it damages them, is the cold or frost, so it is necessary to protect them, if it is under these conditions.
Let's talk now, a little about the appearance of this curious plant, it has an erect stem that can reach a height of up to 1 meter and in the case of adult plants can generate roots laterally. Its leaves, which usually emerge at the top of the stem, of course, as is typical of all succulents, are fleshy. They measure up to 30 cm. long by about 5 cm. wide, with an oblong lanceolate shape and serrated edges, in addition, they are green, and on the reverse side have purple spots.
Finally, I wanted to comment on the flowering process, aspect for which this plant is also a bit peculiar, since, although they do produce inflorescences, these are not very common, in fact, some plants never develop them. The development of its flowering is really unpredictable, now, if they were to occur, the main stem of the plant lengthens about 30 cm and emerges a cluster with the shape of an umbrella, which groups beautiful flowers in the form of bells in shades between pink and purple.

The leaves remind me of fractals. Manifestation of math in nature. 😁
It's true, I hadn't noticed that detail, thanks for pointing it out to me and I'm very grateful for your visit.
The wonder

Gracias!

A beautiful and unique plant whose interesting method of creating new seedlings that look like tiny flower buds is quite captivating. Its befitting name "Mother of Thousands" is quite catchy! I would like to get my hands on one of these plants to add to my potted indoor collection.🌿🔆🌱
Greetings and happy start to the week, thanks for your visit and comments. Blessings to you and yours 😘
