Hello Nature Lovers. I just recently joined this community and I really am excited to see that so many of my friends and acquaintances in other communities are also here. I feel I'm no stranger here anymore. Anyway, soon as I subscribed to the community I scrolled through the posts and immediately came across this contest which I have decided to enter my maiden post in. So here goes.
For those of you who have watched the movie "The Sound of Music" one of the hit songs in that film was "My Favorite Things." This song was composed by an American named Richard Charles Rodgers. And if you are familiar with the lyrics the first favorite thing that he mentioned was Raindrops on Roses. I have always liked that song for its tune and beat and for some of the things mentioned there like brown paper packages tied up with strings or apple strudel which I definitely love too. But Raindrops on Roses? I just couldn't quite relate to that. UNTIL maybe 3 days ago on a rainy morning I went out to check the garden and saw these:
It was then that I realize why Raindrops on Roses was the very first favorite thing of the song writer. The freshness, the majesty despite it's daintiness, the impression of the raindrops on the rose and its leaves as though tears of joy and happiness at being in love with the one you love under the rain. Ah yes. Love. And roses the symbol of love since time immemorial. Legend has it that the goddess of love Aphrodite herself created this flower and watered it with her tears and blood with those of her lover's, Adonis. It has become the symbol of love until death since.
Here are some quotes about roses that speak so eloquently about it's beauty.
The red rose whispers of passion, And the white rose breathes of love; O, the red rose is a falcon, And the white rose is a dove.”
John Boyle O’Reilly
Love and a red rose can’t be hid.”
Thomas Holcroft
There may be many flowers in one’s life…but only one rose.”

These rose bushes were planted by my daughter from cuttings from just one rose plant. We now have over a dozen potted roses and soon we will have a whole garden of roses in the rain. So much Raindrops on Roses. Ah, this beautiful and Amazing Nature.
That's it for this post. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did making it. Special thanks to @adalger for hosting this contest. It truly is an enjoyable one. Until next time, stay safe and healthy. Have a great day!
(All photos are mine.)
Green fingers of your daughter will make the garden a magical place to be went flowers are all planted and soft rains fall releasing the gentle perfume on the breeze.
Well done with your entry @gems.and.cookies

tokens. You have roses in your garden!! How lovely!
They really are. We used to only have two plants, but when my daughter learned about propagating them from cuttings she just started planting and now we have so many of them. Unbelievable. And the pruning of the mother plant made it even more prolific in blooming. Yes, they are just absolutely lovely. Here's a recent picture of the mother plant in full bloom.
Thanks for the visit and the upvote. Appreciate them very much.

tokens.Oh, I love roses and one of my favourite things is not only raindrops but also morning dew on their petals. I am looking forward to seeing more of your lovely roses.
Glad you joined the community. 🤗☺
Ooops I almost missed this. Sorry for the delayed response but for some inexplicable circumstance I failed to reply. You will forgive me, yes? Please? : (
Morning dew on petals are just absolutely beautiful. The problem I have with this is I am a late riser and by the time I get to the garden, the sun's already up and the morning dew all dried up. So the next best thing is Raindrops on Roses. My daughter, @jacinta.sevilla, is the one propagating our roses. You can check out some of her posts, click here and here if you have some spare time, which I think you hardly have. I'll have to ask her to join this community.
Again, my apologies for not immediately replying to your wonderful and very kind comments. It is unforgivable of me.

tokens.Don't worry about the late reply. ☺ This is not a problem at all.
I would love to see your daughter's posts and I will find time. It would be great if she loins the community. ☺
Ah, the roses, I love them and I am proud to tell that my country is called the land of roses. Bulgaria is one of the leading producers of rose oil.

For me, it's the last rose he gave me 10 days before he went into the hospital....
Took me a while to reply to this as I didn't quite know how to go about it. Perhaps you could have somehow dried the rose petals and framed them as a reminder of him but who would have thought the time you had together would be cut short? I hope you are doing all right. My thoughts and prayers are always with you.
The rose remained in the vase where it had been put for a couple weeks after he died at Christmas. I had a feeling I shouldn't touch it while he was in hospital, even after it was long past. I took it out, found a nice jar, and labeled the top. It sits next to his ashes.
