Back in Summer we made a trip to Aberlady Nature Reserve, which is right on the coast to the East of Edinburgh in Scotland.
The nature reserve starts out at the coastal road and then has a nice path which takes you out across the fields and down towards the beach.
It was the first time we had been. We were lucky enough to get parked in the car park - its not big and we got the last space.
This cool bridge takes you across the mud flats to the main path.
And I was a bit surprised to see the sign above !!! Better keep to the path then !
As can be seen from the bridge, the river mouth does look rather muddy when the tide is out.
There was some really nice wildflowers along the route, and I just loved the coloring on this fly !
And we also spotted some other beasties on the wild flowers !
This map gives you a good idea of what you can find, along with a map of the route.
And as you near the beach you have to climb up over this dune.
The beach views from the dunes were quite spectacular !
And we picked quite a nice day to go - the weather was lovely !
We really enjoyed the walk around the nature reserve and will definitely go back - its only about a 40mins driver from where we live - and well worth the trip !!!
