HOW POLLINATION IN APPLE ORCHARDS IS DONE MANUALLY

It's a season of fruits and I have lots of apple, apricots, pears, pulms and cheery in my field.
Lots of activities are going on around my field and here I want to share a activity related to pollination that happened month ago.

This is my apple field between the mountains which are usually covered with snow covered mountains.

Apple grow on cold area and in Himachal Pradesh, India they're found in Shimla, MANALI, Kinnaur.

There are different varieties of apple and the production depends on the work done in the field, such as timely insecticide and pesticides spray, fertilizer, and plant care.

Apple is also good for health as there is a saying that, "An Apple A Day Keeps Doctor Away" .

Walking on such field is a previlage itself and I feel blessed to born in such a place.

You can see how beautifully these flowers are bloomed and it's called pink stage. In my field some old varieties of apple are there and the problem we face is related to pollination in them.

For new varieties of apple , pollution is not a concern as pollinators or plants that help in pollution are grown in between the new varieties of apple.

For pollution in old apple varieties we have to tie flowers from one plant to another. A little knowledge is required for this process and also perfection is also necessary. It come with practice and it takes time.
My grandparents and good at it and doing this for years and such activities make them happy.

Material required is a bucket full of water, transparent polythene, flowers from a single tree at a time and a thread to tie them.

My grandmother is expert in making such flower bags and my dadu help our labour to tie them in apple plants.

This is a picture showing how to hang them in different tree. It's a time consuming process and labour is required to do so. It results in better pollination and hence better fruit production.

Water is necessary element for pollution with out it it's nearly impossible for a plant to get pollinated fully. Water attract bees and other insects and hence leads to pollination.

These are fully blossomed pictures of apple trees. I hope you like them.

For new varieties of apple , in our orchids we have honey bee boxes. Honeybees are good pollinators of pear, apple and apricots.

These are the honeybee boxes in our field. It's a little risky to open them at first but as I said lots of field work come with experience only.

That's all about the pollination related work which is done manually in lots of field having old varieties of apple and people really enjoy doing such activities.

That's all I know about pollination. I hope you find this blog informative.
Thank you for reading me.
See you soon.

Great post!! Never seen this pollination technique. Why you need to do that? To improve pollination or there aren't enough bees there? 😊

By the way here in italy the sayng "An Apple A Day Keeps Doctor Away" is "Una mela al giorno toglie il medico di torno" ... it rhymes also in italian, indeed it is a saying also here 😁
