Hello everyone and hello to all members of the Amazing Nature community. I was happy to spend a few days in Slovenia, a country of amazing nature. I recently shared my experience from the beautiful Jasna lake, and today I will share my experience from another special place in Slovenia, the source of the Sava river, called Zelenci.
We walked to this place along a 5 km long path and the air was so pleasant and fresh that we didn't feel tired at all. On both sides of the road there are meadows, which seem to be covered with a green carpet. Everything is in harmony, even the grass is perfect.
We found a bench and rested a bit.
And soon we came across a cafe where people can refresh themselves and its name would be translated as "refreshment house". Even the cafe is in harmony with nature and there is nothing that would disturb the peace of this place.
We reached a sign that said we had arrived at our destination.
The signpost led down the stairs into the forest.
The forest was very pleasant and I was excited because we were getting closer to the gem of nature we wanted to see.
We enjoyed the views of beautiful and rare forest flowers and protected species of flora.
And finally we reached Zelenci and the source of the river Sava Dolinka.
It joins the Sava Bohinjka river about 45 km downstream and forms the Sava river, the longest river in Slovenia that connects 4 countries, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia. The Sava river also flows through my city Belgrade and I am glad to have seen where it begins to flow.
Zelenci is a wetland in a valley surrounded by the peaks of the Julian Alps and the views around are incredible.
It is home to many rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, some of which can only be found in Slovenia and are unique. The air is incredibly fresh and pleasant. I enjoyed looking at the emerald green water and admiring the amazing natural environment. This place is also amazing because it dates back to the Ice Age. The melting of the glaciers created a lake, which later dried up and formed the river bed.
The unique natural phenomenon of Slovenia is also found here, namely the tiny bubbling underwater volcanoes.
This place is often visited by tourists. There is a wooden observation tower from which the view is fantastic.
I photographed my sister and admired the colors in the background.
But it is interesting that the colors in the photos are not so intense and beautiful and that the camera cannot convey what the eyes see.
This is one of the places worth experiencing, a hidden gem of amazing nature that is preserved as a treasure of national and world importance.
This is my entry for the amazing Nature Contest: FREE TOPIC - #3/5/23.

It's my pleasure to participate in such an inspiring contest, thank you! 🤗 Nature is the most valuable thing we have.
Is it true. Without nature there would be no life.
This place is so perfect for relaxation... It would be great to enter the woods in bicycle.. The best spot is by the lake... Just by looking at the photo, I am relaxed.. The more if I stay in front of it

The forest is perfect for riding bicycles, but in front of the forest there is a warning that it is forbidden to ride a bicycle in the forest, so all cyclists had to push their bicycles with their hands.😊 It is a really special place and the camera cannot convey the beauty of the colors. Thank you!🤗

This article about Zelenci is truly inspiring. The journey through the meadows and the fresh air along the path sounds rejuvenating. The pictures capture the beauty of this hidden gem, but I can only imagine its true magnificence in person. Learning about the rich biodiversity and rare species found in Zelenci adds to its allure. It's fascinating to think about its ancient origins and how it has shaped the Sava River. This place is truly a treasure of nature and it's wonderful that it is preserved for future generations. Thank you for sharing this amazing experience!

The lake is so crystal clear, I love it!! Such a great place where to go and spend a while, reconnecting with the beauty of nature <3
It is really a very peaceful and beautiful place. When I saw the source of the Sava River, I couldn't believe that there was such an emerald green color. The Sava river also flows through my town, but the color is not like this, it is dark green...
