Greetings friends of the "Amazing Nature" Community. In this post I want to tell you about my experience as a caterpillar grower. I tell you how it happened and share an illustrative video.

I have been capturing photographs of the process of changing from larva to pupa, which I will share with you in a future publication. But I share a video in which detailed views of the head and jaws are shown, and the tiny legs, which being a caterpillar are of no use to it, so it crawls as if it were a slug.
Days ago I captured 4 caterpillars of the genus Archeria Sp. With the intention of documenting the transformation process of these into moths.
In that post I presented the caterpillar, acknowledging that it was difficult for me to locate the species and variety with certainty. The consulted bibliography reflected few images of this type of specimen. Her species may be Sabine Fusca, and I uploaded to Inaturist Naturalist several photos to help me with the identification.
Snake Worm
I consulted several people in the area where I live and they attribute the name "Viper Worm" due to the toxicity of rubbing its skin and hair, they say it gives a lot of fever and the bitten part swells. They have a lot of respect for this caterpillar because it affects children more seriously.
Amazing Nature
This experience has allowed me to return to my old love for biology, the desire to explore and discover the different forms of life. Especially what refers to the world of insects. The care to be taken when handling them, especially when they are toxic. These caterpillars use this external configuration as a survival strategy, to warn predators that they are dangerous if they try to eat them, to pupate, the caterpillars stop eating and begin to weave a mesh or net that they use to wrap themselves and build a protective cocoon .

Saludos amigos de la Comunidad "Amazing Nature". En este post quiero contarles de mi experiencia como cultivador de orugas. Les comento como pasó y comparto un video ilustrativo.

He ido capturando fotografías del proceso de cambio de larva a pupa, que ya les compartiré en una publicación futura. Pero les comparto un video en el cual se muestran al detalle vistas de la cabeza y mandíbulas, y las minúsculas patas, que siendo oruga no le sirven, por lo que repta como si fuese una babosa.
Días atrás realicé la captura de 4 ejemplares orugas del género Archeria Sp.Con la intención de documentar el proceso de transformación de estas en polillas.
En dicho post presenté la oruga reconociendo que me costó ubicar con seguridad la especie y variedad- La bibliografía consulta da reflejaba pocas imágenes de este tipo de ejemplar. Es posible que su especie sea Sabine Fusca, y subí a NATURALISTA varias fotos para que me ayudasen con la identificación.
Gusano Víbora
Consulté a varias personas de la zona donde vivo y le atribuyen el nombre de “Gusano Víbora” debido a la toxicidad del roce de su piel y pelos, dicen que da mucha fiebre y se inflama la parte mordida. A esta oruga le tienen mucho respeto pues afecta de manera más grave a los niños.
Impresionante Naturaleza
Esta experiencia me ha permitido retomar mi antiguo amor por la biología, el deseo de explorar y descubrir las diferentes formas de vida. Especialmente lo referido al mundo de los insectos. El cuidado que hay que tener al manipularlos, especialmente cundo son toxicas. Estas orugas usan esa configuración externa como una estrategia de supervivencia, para avisar a depredadores que son peligrosas si intentan comérselas, para convertirse en pupa, las orugas dejan de comer y comienzan a tejer una malla o red que usan para envolverse y construir un capullo protector.

Me encantan las orugas, algunas son realmente hermosas, con colores tan llamativos. Bueno, aunque se que tienen su lado perverso, pueden llegar a dañar mucho una planta, mientras están en esa etapa de crecimiento.
