NATURE AT HOME

Welcome to our little corner of paradise. Nestled under leaves of many trees and surrounds with many green plants. Our home is a living testament to the beauty and serenity that Mother Nature provides. We find solace in this haven. I don't mean that we have a beautiful house because actually our house was just made of lightweight materials, and as the years passed , its almost wrecked. I just want to share with you where my house settled with different trees and plants.

As the extreme heat we are experiencing keep on rising, and lots of people having a hard time coping with the intense heat, we are at home just chilling under the shade of trees that my parents planted years ago. Especially my mom, she really loves to plant, she has a green hand. She really believes in the saying "kung may itatanim, may aanihin".

These are the views above our roof. Yeah, I know there are lots of autumn leaves on it, but it's okay, they will eventually fall off on the ground anyway when the wind blows and my mother will sweep them off and gather, burn them to keep mosquitoes away especially at dusk.

My father ordered a fabric hammock and tied both ends to the trees. So whenever the sun is way too hot, my mom will go there and sit on the hammock to relax. My mom is not fun of high heat since she was suffered from stroke. High heat makes her blood pressure rise .

He made also a little hut beneath the trees so that my kids will sleep inorder to save electricity consumption. Actually he built it as a cage for our chickens,he changed his mind and built another for the chickens.

In our surroundings there are lots of fruit bearing trees that my parents planted years ago. Some already bear fruits which we have already tasted and some are still growing and we are waiting for it to bear some.

We have varieties of mangoes, we have some
🌱Mangifera altissima, commonly known as "pajo". We have harvested it many times, and there are lots of this kind in our backyard. We have 10 trees of mangoes, half of them already bear fruits.

IMG_20240523_140643_579.jpg

We also have a sole tree of purple mango. It is still small but as years will pass it will bear fruit also. I can really tell that it was a purple one because I'm the one who ate it before , it was given to me by my late uncle from Negros as a "pasalubong" and my mother planted the seed.

My father put the jackfruit peelings in the banana. It will decomposed and turn into fertilizer. It is an organic fertilizer and will not harm the soil.

IMG_20240523_104523_748.jpg

🌱Guavas

Whoever in my family will suffer form diarrhea, we will get some immature leaves of guava and eat. Guava leaf extract is antimicrobial. It helps neutralize harmful microbes in our guts that can cause diarrhea. It prevent or reduce diarrhea and constipation. And if ever we have wounds we washed them with boiled guava leaves, because it has an antiflammatory, antibacterial and analgesic properties that can aid in wound healing. But we have to cool down the water before washing the wounds ,we might get burned 🤣.I remember when my son had his circumcision, this is what I always wash his wound and it got better not longer.

This variety is the native one , which we can see whenever we wonder at bushes.

Our surroundings seems like a forest ,where lots of trees growing. It give us shade and food, not only for us but also for the birds who come to our backyards and share food with us. The leaves of this plants serves as a canopy from the heat of the sun. This will help absorb carbon dioxide in our atmosphere so I'm persuading everyone to plant trees to lessen the effects of climate change. Even in this way we can help our mother earth recover. If you look above in our place, this is what you will see.

IMG_20240523_105503_902.jpg

My mother also loves to plant ornamental plants. She treats them like her babies. Since she stayed home after her stroke, this was her way of having fun, planting varieties of ornamentals. I don't actually know what's the name of her plants.

With all the plants in our backyard, I throw a joke on my mom that when all these trees bears fruit she will eventually become a fruit vendor🤣. She laughed at my joke and responded that, if ever that happens she will not hesitate to sell because her items she's selling are the products of her hardworks and she can gain profit from them.

This plant is a living testament that we will reap whatever we sow. From the garden to our table, it is a sustainable living with no inorganic substances added. So I better be like my mom and start planting seeds that we can benefit from rather than going to other people's houses and do gossiping and spreading false information. Just by planting trees we can help rebuild our planet.

I will end my blog here, and I hope you find it interesting. Have a good day everyone.
