When I was going to visit the archaeological site in Falasarna (on the island of Crete), it was very hot. On that day, I would like to spend most of my time swimming in the sea, and during the trip I would have a nice cooling effect for the air conditioning in the car. At one point, I saw a herd of sheep through the car window, hiding from the heat in the shade of an argan tree.
Gdy jechałam na zwiedzanie wykopalisk archeologicznych w Falasarnie na Krecie było bardzo upalnie. Tego dnia najchętniej spędziłabym większość czasu na pływaniu w morzu, a w trakcie podróży przyjemnie chłodziła klimatyzacja w samochodzie. W pewnym momencie zobaczyłam przez szybę stado owiec, które schroniły się przed upałem w cieniu drzewa arganowego.
They were both adult sheep and a few tiny lambs. The animals lay side by side, making the most of the space under the tree. Shaded and a bit cooler than the one in the open. I was near this place, on an archaeological site, and despite the proximity of the sea, the ground was dry as in a desert, so these animals have quite difficult living conditions. It's good that they don't stand in full sun, but they have the opportunity to shelter from its hot rays.
Były to zarówno dorosłe owce jak i kilka maleńkich owieczek. Zwierzęta leżały obok siebie, maksymalnie wykorzystując powierzchnię pod drzewem. Zacienioną i trochę chłodniejszą niż ta na otwartej przestrzeni. Byłam w pobliżu tego miejsca, na wykopaliskach i mimo bliskości morza ziemia była wyschnięta jak na pustyni, więc te zwierzaki mają dość trudne warunki do życia. Dobrze, że nie stoją w pełnym słońcu, ale mają możliwość schronienia się przed jego gorącymi promieniami.
