Kozice to niewielkie zwierzęta z rodziny wołowatych.
Mają krępe ciała o długości 120-140 cm, a wysokość w kłębie wynosi około 70 cm.
Ich sierść jest gęsta i krótka, zazwyczaj brązowa lub szaro-brązowa.
Kozice cechują się charakterystycznymi, lekko zakrzywionymi rogami, które występują zarówno u samców, jak i samic, choć u samców mogą być większe.
Te zwierzęta są zwinnymi wspinaczami i dobrze przystosowane do życia w górskim środowisku.
Żywią się głównie roślinami, takimi jak trawy, zioła i krzewy.
