While in a resort in the south of Ukraine, I met such a mantis. At first I thought I had encountered some unusual and rare species. However, my hopes were dashed by Wikipedia. It turns out that mantises are not only green, under certain conditions, their color changes to brown.

Those guys are awesome :) Unfortunately it's really hard to get close to them, because they are so alert. Have you seen the videos of them battling huge wasps, etc? They are great fighters!
