Life at the sea.

Join us for a short stroll on the beach.

We saw a female Grey-headed gull flying above the ocean.

A happy Saturday to all and come let's take a bit of a walk on the beach to see what is happening with the bird life here.
I briefly saw a seal today, but it disappeared before I could take a photo of it. Such is life, and I will show you here what we saw.
We always find action at the sea, and it is always a pleasure to take a walk.

An Africa Oystercatcher (Haematopus moquini) in flight and a Blacksmith Lapwing (Vanellus armatus) at the bottom.

Here is an interesting mix. Top right an Egret (Egretta garzetta) and to its left a Grey-headed gull (Chroicocephalus cirrocephalus). And at the bottom, again, the Blacksmith Lapwing.

Who says Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca) do not hunt for fish at the ocean?

Here we have a male Swift Tern (Thalasseus bergii) and two Grey-headed gulls.

A Grey-headed gull, again, above the ocean.

This is a Kelp gull in the take-off.

Interesting how the Egret hides the fish that he caught behind the backs of the Grey-headed gulls. He knows that they will attack him and try to rob him if they saw that he had caught a fish.

Did I tell you that life is interesting at the sea, and we are blessed with birds to enjoy. My camera agrees and loves it.
Every time that we come down here, we find something new. No one can say that the beach is a boring place, as it depends on what it is that one does there. Some come down only to tan and others to swim but we come down to explore and to find interesting sights.
The Atlantic is a cold ocean and the wind, at times, fiercely drives the waves. But the birds are used to it and the wind doesn't bother them.
Just a part of our lives that I show you here today.

We hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Lucky you as I miss the walks along the beach as it is always so relaxing seeing what you can spot.

We are blessed here as 6km away from the mountains and 6km away from the sea.
So it's easy to steal an hour as we go around to visit either locations.

These gulls look almost peaceful... unlike their thieving counterparts that are in the harbour hahahaha!

Maybe I have told you about the gull at the waterfront that came down to sit on a bald guy's head.
The guy had a box of chips and the gull was eager to get one !LOLZ

My Uncle used to work in a circus as a human cannonball.
They eventually fired him.
