It’s early April and I thought we had seen the last of the snowstorms. But Mother Nature threw a curve ball of white fluff!
Last week we had some snow furries but the weather was warm enough to melt it quickly.
I said at the time, “Aah, the Robin Snowstorm! ”
This heralds the return of Robins from their winter holiday in the Southern States and our last storm until next winter.
Other migratory birds, such as the Mourning Doves and the Juncos have already returned to my backyard to feast on the bird seed I put out for them.
Today the doves were a bit confused and tried to find some of the seeds on the deck. I shovelled the deck and threw seeds there but the snow quickly covered them.

These lovely birds, symbolizing love and peace, didn’t seem to mind a snow covered tail. They gracefully pecked through the snow to retrieve seeds.

These lovey doves must have a nest nearby. I look forward to see a young one this spring.

The pair of Juncos were also looking for a snack and spent a long time pecking through the snow for the seeds. They are another pair getting ready to start a little bird family.

Snow-laden trees

This small shrub by the front deck may not survive the snowstorms~It is flattened. I will tie the branches together once the weather warms and maybe it will survive.

The snow finally stopped at dusk. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully the last day Hubby has to use the snow blower until next winter.
Tomorrow I will shovel the deck off for the birds and look forward to a kinder Mother Nature bringing sunshine.
Beautiful photos Jo!! You got quite the sprinkling of snow there! I especially love the doves and their snow-covered tails are too cute! First time ever I caught a lone dove at the bird feeder last week or maybe it was this week. My days seem to run altogether anymore. It was still special to see him or her there. The blue jays still visit daily. So far, they are behaving themselves but I'm certain they are a mated pair as I saw them quickly nuzzle their beaks together. We've been having a lot of rain and expect more for the next three days. Yesterday the sun came out for a little while though which was nice. Hope you have a beautiful rest of the week!! 🤗💖
Hi Dee. Yes it was quite the storm. Since then the sun has been shining, 🤞
I love seeing the dove too. This pair must be the same ones coming back every spring. A lone chickadee also pays a visit but maybe it is a male and female taking turns as one guards the nest. The blue jays and ravens stay around all year.
I hope the sun keeps shining in your area, Dee. Have a great Thursday. 💕
hello friend, these birds are very beautiful, I also hope they can withstand that cold, greetings
Hi and thanks for stopping by @davidpena21. This morning the doves and juncos were alive and well and eating the seeds, along with the numerous bluejays. Even a couple ravens stopped for some treats.
We have also got quite some snow during the weekend, but on Monday it has become warmer and all snow is already gone. After some dry weeks the water was good for the ground and now the green can grow 😀
I think the animals have less problems when the weather doesn't go with the calendar 😉
Lovely post, dear Jo, I like the birds looking for food you have kindly put out for them 😊
I'm also looking forward to the Spring and hopefully your hubby will not need the snow blower again until next Winter.
It's Wednesday already and I'm wishing you a wonderful day and rest of the week 🤗🌞

Your spring weather is a bit ahead of mine. It will be lovely to see green grass and flowers. 🌺 Since the big storm we had a couple days of warm weather and the snow is starting to disappear slowly. Still lots in the yard and fields but highways are bare.
I’m pleased you liked the post and the birds that come around, dear Hannes. 😊
Thanks for everything and have a great rest of the week. 🤗 Time is passing too fast as the weeks go by rapidly. ⚡️
Good morning Jo,
time is really flying at the moment. It feels as if yesterday I was moaning about Monday and tomorrow is Friday already 😁
Yes, down here where I live most of the snow is gone and you can see first Spring flowers. Hopefully there will be more till the weekend.
Wishing you also a fabulous rest of the week, dear Jo 🤗🌞

Snow in April. That's a sight.
They look beautiful and you got a pair, probably 2 lovebirds lol
It was unexpected for this much snow to fall in April. Today is nice and sunny and the lovebirds are enjoying the heat. 😆
Beautiful snow and birds photos! I hope those birds are ok. I am looking forward to having a warm-weather soon for your place and my place.
Thanks @koto-art. The birds were here again this morning still surviving, This morning is much better with the sun shining. I hope you have the same. 😊 🌞

Really fun to see the birds in the snow. A good thing they still get the seeds through the snow.
Thanks @crkevincr. I gave them a fresh supply this morning but they cleaned all from under the snow.

Beautiful birds, really sweet of you to feed them, I think the snow can't stop birds from finding food lying around because birds love to dig with their feet and uncover stuff.
@redheadpei, has it ever crossed your mind that these birds might see that there is winter and decide to go for another winter break again?😂😅
Thanks @nevies. If they go back south again I might just go with them. 😆
Hahahaha 😅
That's how much you love them? If that happens, just be sure they'll be back again with winter.
I love relaxing robins tweets. Winter snow is amazing over trees😍 now Spring will make nature green and beautiful
Morning @worldstories! Yes the sound of the birds is delightful. The snow does make everything look clean and pretty but I’m now looking forward to spring.
Just when you thought Spring was arriving, caught by surprise with all the birds returning.
Being a good friend feeding them, they know survival is high after the long flight back Jo, I'm sure they have a homing beacon as to where food is.

Thanks Joan and for the goodies. The same birds seem to return each spring. How do I know? Lol. I think I read it somewhere. I try to help them out especially, as you mentioned, after the long trip back.
Have a wonderful week! 😊
Case of "find you momma", the one that feeds you 😀

I know that you have had enough of snow and the cold Jo, but I have to say the snow creates a beautiful site in your garden. And something that is so foreign to me.
Mother Nature has given us some hot days again and here we thought it was autumn at last.
Heavy rain is forecasted again which I don't mind as it waters the yard but not the heat. Sending love 🧡
Yes, I have seen enough snow now Angie and look forward to the warm sunny weather. I’ve always lived in this climate with the four changing season. Winter is my least favorite but the advantages are our cold winter keeps big poisonous snakes from living here and hurricanes and tornadoes at bay.
Hopefully not too much rain falls but enough for the yard. ♥️
Oh my gosh. It seems that all my winter has gone to you. Hold on beautiful lady! You are like a Disney Snow White surrounded by birds 😊
The Sami say that every spring the god of wind and winter breaks his shovel, with which he throws snow on the ground. And while he is repairing it, spring and summer are coming. I am sure he has already broken it this year and these were the last snowfalls.
Oh Spring, where art thou? Actually it looks quite beautiful this morning with the sun making the snow glisten. 🌞 A big cleanup is on the way to clear driveways and I hear on the news the school buses are a hour late because of this.
I like the beliefs and legends of the Sami people. Thanks for introducing them to me, my friend, Northerner.
Thanks for generosity and reblog. 😊
