Share Our World: Windows Trail Hike

in Amazing Nature3 years ago

We saw a lot of arches on your trip to Southern Utah. This area in Arches National Park is called the Windows Area. There are four arches all close together.

North Window
South Window
Turret Arch
Double Arch (more in next post)

Arches are fascinating.

According to the plaque at the start of the hike.

The rock in which the arches are formed was deposited as sand more than 150 million years ago. Over time it was buried by new layers, hardened into rock, and shaped by the powerful forces of erosion.

This hike 8/10.

1DestinationGood, the arches are the destination
1Time on trialVery quick hike

Here is a map of the trails.

North Arch

A very popular destination. There was even a man in his electric wheelchair up at the base of the arch.

South Arch

I really love this picture cause it shows the scale of the arch. There is a person in the bottom left.

Double Arch

This is such a cool arch I am going to do another post on it.

A great place to see a lot of arches all in one very easy hike.

Nature is a skilled master at producing funny things.
How long will these windows last? When will they collapse?

Interesting questions. For thousands of years at least!

Do you think? What will stand for another 1000 years? I doubt.

We appreciate your work and your publication has been hand selected by the geography curation team on behalf of the Amazing Nature Community. Keep up the good work!

Great thanks. I thought there was some great geography and glad you thought so too!

Very beautiful place. Such a wonderful relief and these arches - everything is great. And, I see, there are not so many people, despite the simplicity of the route and the presence of trails.

Denis, yes there were not very many people at all, which is very nice.

I always appreciate it in the sights :)
