Hello, dear community today I bring you this beautiful animal "Praying Mantis" this insect has a medium size of approximately 6 to 7 cm, with a long thorax and thin antennas.

This friend who let himself be photographed and posed in my hands and arms in various positions is a baby of his species.

Hola querida comunidad hoy les traigo este hermoso animal "Mantis Religiosa" este insecto posee un tamaño mediano de aproximadamente 6 a 7 cm, con un tórax largo y unas antenas delgadas.

Este amigo que se dejó fotografiar y posó en mis manos y brazos en varias posiciones es un bebé de su especie.

They have two large compound eyes and three small simple eyes between them, many eyes to see, they have excellent vision and that is compensation from nature for having only one ear that is located in their thorax.

The head can rotate up to 180º. Its front legs, which it holds in a closed position, are provided with thorns to hold its prey.

Ellos tienen dos grandes ojos compuestos y tres ojos simples pequeños entre ellos, muchos ojos para ver, tienen una excelente visión y eso es una compensación de la naturaleza por poseer un solo oído que se encuentra ubicado en su tórax.

La cabeza puede girar hasta 180º. Sus patas delanteras, que mantiene recogidas están provistas de espinas para sujetar a sus presas.

They can be green or brown with different shades and the color is determined by the environment in which it lives (for example, yellow, if it is dry straw, or green if it is fresh grass).

The mantis is carnivorous and a patient predator. It is capable of waiting for its prey, which it waits for almost motionless and attacks by surprise and quickly.

Pueden ser de color verde o marron con distintos matices y el color lo determina el medio en el que habita (por ejemplo, amarillo, si se trata de paja seca, o verde, si es hierba fresca).

La mantis es carnívora y una depredadora paciente. Es capaz de aguardar a su presa, a quien espera casi inmóvil y ataca por sorpresa y con rapidez.

They are solitary animals except in the breeding season when males and females look for each other to mate. A female can lay up to 400 eggs in each clutch, and they usually hatch in spring, although only a few survive due to cannibalism among them.

The female takes things to an extreme in the sexual arena, eating her partner during or after intercourse with a life expectancy of about a year.

To conclude I comment that there is Chinese martial art, Kung Fu inspired by this animal is a style of self-defense.

Son animales solitarios excepto en la época de reproducción, cuando macho y hembra se buscan para aparearse. Una hembra puede colocar hasta 400 huevos en cada puesta, y suelen eclosionar en primavera, aunque solo unos pocos sobreviven debido al canibalismo entre ellos.

La hembra lleva las cosas a lo extremo en lo sexual, se come a su pareja durante o después del coito siendo su esperanza de vida de alrededor de un año.

Para concluir les comento que existe un arte marcial Chino el Kung Fu inspirada en este animal en un estilo de autodefensa.
