LIONS ARE THE SECOND LARGEST CAT ON EARTH

After tigers lions are the largest wild cats on the planet.
When takingd over a new tertitory and pride. some male lions will form a "coelition." or a group of 3 or 4 males. They will fight the resident male lion, often to the death. and kill all his cubs.

In 2002, much to the surprise of conservationists, a lioness adopted and protected a buby antelope: However, two wacks later, a male lion ate the baby while the lioness slept. The
lioness appecared to be stricken with grief and walked around roaring in anger

The darker a male lion's mane is. the older he is. Female lions prefer to mate with males thut have the longest and darkest manes

Lions can see six times better in the dark thean a human. At night. a reflective coating on the back of thcir eyes helps capture moonlight. Additionally, they have a white patch of further undermeath their eyes that helps to reflect even more light

Tanzania has the largest population of lions in Africa.
Lions are not as fast as other types of big cats, such as leoperds end tigers. They hunt using teamwork and rely more on strength than speed to catch and kill prey.

Male lions may mate up to 100 times in two days to ensure that the female is pregnant. Each mating lasts only a few
scconds. Female lions are pregnant with their cubs for about 3
months.
Male lions sleep an average 20 hours per day. The females on the other hand do ll of the really hard work kiling the
majority of prey, which the males then appropriate for thomsches. The main dangor males facc is fighting off othor
males that want to take over their pride and territory.

LIONS COMMUNICATE IN MANY WAYS - A lion's roar can be
heerd up to 5 miles away. The roar is a warning to other animals & rival prides to stay clear of the lion's domain.

Lions also rub their heads on one another as an act of bonding
and to spresad the "Family scent'. This scent sllows the lions of a specific pride to know who is a member of their family and who is not if a dispute arises between prides.

FEMALE LIONS RAISE CUBS TOGETHER-Lions mate every two
years and female lions give birth to a litter of 2-3 cubs after a four-month pregnancy. Females in the same pride tand to give birth around-the same timer which allows multiple litters to be raised together.

This has the added advantage of allowing different cubs to nurse with other lion mothers, making it easier for the pride to manage the cubs in those crucial early months. Where's dad
during the raising of the cubs? Alas, male lions do not directly participate in the parenting, but they will protect the pride's cubs from danger.

Trophy hunting is devastating for lions for several reasons.
First, when an adult male (the most sought-after trophy) is killed, his death destabilizes and may destroy an entire pride.

Second, it wipes out the genes of the largest & most healthy males.

  • Once in a while, go without physical food, fast & pray.. It helps a lot. Never go a day without feeding from the word of God as that is more vital than physical food.
