Honey And Buzz.

Apart from the natural sweeteners produced by honey bees, humans can learn a whole lot from these little yet unique creatures. Although the idea of learning from an insect that may end up stinging you doesn't sound so appealing, it is definitely worth the shot. Notwithstanding, I am still very much terrified of these creatures.

I have come across quite a good number of documentaries, articles and even movies that centre around bees and one major thing I can say about these creatures is that they are extremists; they can be extremely friendly or extremely hostile. One movie that deeply piqued my curiosity about bees was “the beekeeper” . Not only did the main character emulate the bees that he reared, he went ahead to act like the said bees whenever his own ecosystem was disturbed. A really interesting movie.

Teamwork

Can you imagine a scenario where a worker was asked to watch clips on bees in order to learn how to be a team player? This was the case of an introverted friend of mine who loved to keep to herself. She did as instructed and there were noticeable adjustments to her teamwork abilities along the line.

One striking thing the bees are known for are their teamwork abilities. They work together to get things done. The only other insects I have consciously noticed this ability in are ants. Not only do these insects work together, they are highly organised with every single bee having a role to play within the Hive. This kind of reminds me of the Hive blockchain where everyone has a role to play for the betterment and growth of the ecosystem.

Adaptability

I would start by saying that I am a defaulter when it comes to adaptability and I probably need to learn how to adapt from the bees. I say this because with every slight change in the weather, I complain. There is always something wrong. It’s either the weather is too hot or too cold and when there is some form of balance in the weather, another imbalance pops up and what do I do? You guessed right.

Although we may not understand the language bees speak, one can easily tell by their coordination and their lifestyle that these bees can easily and swiftly adapt to changes be it changes in the weather or shortage of flowers for nectar collection Their ability to adjust and find solutions when necessary teaches us the importance of flexibility and resilience in the face of challenges.

Protection

The rate at which bees protect their queen and their hive by extension can be really adorable to watch. They literally do everything in their power including sacrificing themselves just to protect what is most important to them. I have seen a few clips of humans who knowingly or unknowingly went to disturb the stability of a bee hive and they came out with a ton of bees on their trail. This attribute is one that humans can learn from. We can learn to protect the things we adore with all our might and effort.

Bees, especially honey bees are a set of insects worthy of emulation in so many aspects and today, 20th May, being world bee day, these insects deserve some accolades for just being an amazing addition to our ecosystem and for their honey.
