I wonder if the crayfish might be living in a nearby stream? It makes sense that they would wait to travel when everything is wet, so maybe he was just looking for a new home!
I think your bear might be an older cub? Did you show it to Fish and Game? They might relocate an adult, but not sure what they would do if it's too young :(
