Muy buen día hivers, hoy vengo con una reflexión y tutorial. A veces, el proceso creativo y las jornadas en el taller se sienten solitarias, hace poco estuve organizando y limpiando mi lugar donde guardo los materiales y me fijé que mi antiguo alfiletero ya no estaba acorde para su funcionamiento, la verdad lo veía hasta triste. Por eso me anime a hacer otro más animado, representante de esta etapa de mi crecimiento como manualista y de cierta manera me haga compañía, así fue como arme a Florencia, la flor alfiletera de tela.
Good morning hivers, today I come with a reflection and tutorial. Sometimes, the creative process and the days in the workshop feel lonely, recently I was organizing and cleaning my place where I keep the materials and I noticed that my old pincushion was no longer suitable for its operation, the truth was even sad. That's why I decided to make another one more lively, representative of this stage of my growth as a craftsman and in a certain way to keep me company, that's how I put together Florencia, the fabric pincushion flower.
Ante todo vamos por los materiales, lo mejor es que para esta obra puedes hacerlo a mano con retazos de tela, elige al menos 2 combinaciones de colores, también, tijeras, hilo, estambre para el cabello, silicon, algodón de relleno, pinturas o lápices de colores para el rostro. Ahora sí manos a la obra, el primer paso es cortar 2 círculos, dependiendo del tamaño que deseas.
First of all let's go for the materials, the best thing is that for this work you can do it by hand with scraps of fabric, choose at least 2 color combinations, also, scissors, thread, hair yarn, silicon, cotton stuffing, paints or crayons for the face. Now let's get to work, the first step is to cut 2 circles, depending on the size you want.
Recuerdo que cuando visitaba los talleres de los distintos artistas sean: costureros, pintores, escritores siempre había un elemento el cual humanizaban, mi papá por ejemplo siempre bromeaba con Daniel, un duende del cual había un cuento hacía muchísimos años atrás y el cual le acompañaba como estatuilla de madera. Decía, que a pesar de esconderles ciertos materiales, Daniel, le mantenía la disciplina y la inspiración con sus obras, por eso cada tanto lo recompensaba dejando dulces en el taller, los cuales luego compartía con otras personas.
I remember that when I visited the workshops of the different artists, whether they were seamstresses, painters, or writers, there was always an element which they humanized. My father, for example, always joked with Daniel, a goblin of whom there was a story many years ago and who accompanied him as a wooden statuette. He used to say that in spite of hiding certain materials from them, Daniel kept him disciplined and inspired him with his work, that's why every now and then he would reward him by leaving sweets in the workshop, which he would then share with other people.
Definitivamente comparto la idea de hacer el proceso creativo, educativo y aprendizaje más noble apoyándonos en herramientas sanas, de hecho es la razón principal de mi interés en promover los juguetes didácticos, creativos y de apego. Pues fijense que a pesar de mi edad aquí estoy armando a Florencia, la flor alfiletera para que embellezca mi taller e incluso escuche alguna que otra reflexión mía durante la jornada. Estoy segura que muchas acá solemos hablar solos, cuando estamos en la confección o creación de alguna obra ¿quien dice yo?
I definitely share the idea of making the creative, educational and learning process more noble by relying on healthy tools, in fact it is the main reason for my interest in promoting didactic, creative and attachment toys. Well, despite my age, here I am arming Florencia, the pincushion flower to embellish my workshop and even listen to some of my reflections during the day. I am sure that many of us here tend to talk to ourselves, when we are in the making or creation of some work, who says me?
Con hilo y aguja, cosemos por todo el borde de ambos círculos y arrunchamos, haciendo como una bolsa, por donde echaremos el algodón, una vez bien relleno todo, con firmeza y suavidad, cerramos la bolsa dando la forma deseada a las pelotitas. Ahora es el turno de los detalles, para el cabello enrolle en mis dedos el estambre suficiente para cubrir la parte trasera de la cabeza de Florencia.
With thread and needle, we sew all around the edge of both circles and crumple, making a bag, where we will pour the cotton, once everything is well filled, firmly and gently, we close the bag giving the desired shape to the little balls. Now it's time for the details, for the hair I rolled enough yarn in my fingers to cover the back of Florencia's head.
También recorte 3 círculos en forma de flores, uno para el lazo del cabello, otro para el cuello y el último para forrar el cartón para la base, de esta forma Florencia queda bien parada para ejercer su función de alfiletera. Una vez con todas las piezas listas, empecé a juntarlas con pequeñas puntadas, también reforcé con silicón todo. Finalmente, le hice el rostro sonriente a Florencia. Listo mi compañera y ayudante del taller ¿qué les pareció? Me gustaría saber si ustedes también tienen un elemento de apoyo de este tipo para su desarrollo creativo.
I also cut out 3 circles in the shape of flowers, one for the hair ribbon, another for the neck and the last one to line the cardboard for the base, this way Florencia is well placed to perform its function as a pincushion. Once all the pieces were ready, I began to join them together with small stitches, I also reinforced everything with silicone. Finally, I made Florencia's smiling face.
