Upcycling old jeans with embroidery /

in NeedleWorkMonday10 months ago

I have a denim short pant I made from my old jeans long long ago. As long as I remember I did so as the jeans got a hole on the right knee as always.

Since I like it and wore quite often in the summers, the side parts were fraying 😅

First I made zig zag stitches on the fraying parts to make the fabric stronger. And I took a flower motive from my favorite embroidery book, which my mother sent me as my birthday gift some years ago.

I started making embroidery really after a while. I think last time was when my daughter started going to day care. I liked the meditation-ish process, making stitches in silence.

Ja but as denim is tough fabric and especially the side part with few layers, my fingers don't want to do it so long. More over I ran out of the white thread.

Yesterday I found blue and brown threads in my sewing box. I made a leaf on a fraying part and stamens and pistils with French nut stitch.

I will go to buy white thread and some more colors. It's fun to do embroidery. I'm happy to start my journey in a new needle work field 😊

Hi @akipponn! 🌷This is a very nice and creative way to fix clothes. I really liked the embroidered flowers and they look great on the jean. 🌼

Thank you for your comment! I'm thrilled that you found the idea of embroidering flowers onto jeans to be both nice and creative. Your positive feedback truly means a lot to me. 😊

Beautiful embroidery @akipponn, I'm curious though, can embroidery be used to fix a worn out part of a jean?

Good point, @glorydee. I closed the holes once with zig zag stitches with my sewing machine and made embroidery on the stitches to hide the fixes. But ja, the embroidery may be broken in the end. Anyway the jeans is old and I regard this project as a learning project that is given by the old pant at its end of the life :)

Oh my world, this is so lovely rather than throwing this away you have creatively made it beautiful again.

I love it, thanks for sharing

Happy to hear so monica! Thank you too for your encouraging comment ☺️
