Today I spent my day working on a design that I really liked, an "Elegant Dress" similar to the 80s era. It has a wrap cut and you could wear it for formal work seasons. If you have a job where you need to wear an elegant dress or attend a social gathering or conference, this tutorial I'm bringing for you will be very useful.

- Máquina de coser
- Hilo
- Patrones o medida de de referencia para hacer el corte de la tela

Paso 01
Step 01
We started cutting the fabrics. In this case, as you could see at the beginning, the dress has a crossover front at the bust. For this, I will use a crossover pattern with my client's measurements. I made this pattern two days before because I was going to use it and decided to cut the fabrics when I was less stressed. I started by cutting the front and back (with 2 pieces), the sleeves, and the skirt, which is 130 cm wide x 80 cm long, which is the length of my skirt and my client's size.

We started sewing the dress darts on the bust and back pieces of both sizes. The back dart is 14 cm high and the front dart is 12 cm high. We sewed the 3 cm wide piece and the darts on the sides of the bust as well. Then, I ironed the darts before joining both complete pieces to make it much easier to finish the seams. Next, I sewed the hem of both cuts of the crossed chest piece, approximately 1 cm wide.

Next, we gather the front chest piece with small pleats to give more depth to my neckline, and I'm going to be placing the crosses and we'll join them with pins. It's important to note that each cross joint should be along the entire edge of both darts, and we sew with a straight stitch to secure the pleats at the points where my cross begins. Then we'll join the back pieces with the front piece at the shoulder drop with a straight stitch and overlock.

We'll sew the sleeve to the armhole and seal the sides of the dress. We'll join the bust to the skirt, and we'll make tiny pleats on the skirt so it's a little loose. Then we'll seal it with an overlock stitch. Next, we'll sew the zipper to the back—in this case, a hidden zipper. It was difficult to attach the zipper because I was missing the zipper pull from my skirt, but it turned out fine. Finally, I hemmed the dress by 1 cm and the sleeves by 1 cm. That's it!
