Hello, hello friends who love threads and needles, I wish you have an excellent and blessed week, we are already in the first half of September, I think the days are going by very fast or maybe being at home for my son's school vacation period makes me see it that way, and I have also been taking advantage of the time to finish some sewing projects, since very soon my son will start his school activities; today I am sharing with you a new project inspired by the characters of Splinterlands, it is a top with a triangular neck taking as reference Vera Salacia, the crop top is turquoise and the elastic is gold.
Last week I went to the store to buy some elastic and I was surprised to see a gold colored elastic, there was also a silver one, it was the first time I saw this type of elastic and I liked it because of its color and thickness, I have usually seen these elastics in white, when I saw it I remembered that I had turquoise fabric at home and it seemed like a perfect combination to make a top; I live in a tropical area and the temperature is high all year round, so this top is an ideal piece to wear daily or to exercise, the fabric I used is called micro peach heavy, it is being used a lot for this type of project because of its elongation and texture, it is a bit similar to micro peach, but this one is a little thicker and firmer, which makes it perfect for making underwear, shirts and comfortable clothes for hot days, I invite you to join me in the making process.
Hola, hola amigos amantes de los hilos y las agujas, deseo que tengan una excelente y bendecida semana, ya estamos en la primera quincena del mes de septiembre, creo que los días van avanzando muy rápido o tal vez el estar en casa por el período de vacaciones escolares de mi hijo me hace verlo así, y también he estado aprovechando para terminar algunos proyectos de costura, ya que, muy pronto mi hijo inicia sus actividades escolares; el día de hoy les comparto un nuevo proyecto inspirado en los personajes de Splinterlands, se trata de un top con el cuello triangular tomando como referencia a Vera Salacia, el crop top, es de color turquesa y el elástico es dorado.
La semana pasada fui a la tienda a comprar elásticos y me sorprendió ver un elástico de color dorado, había también de color plateado, es la primera vez que veo este tipo de elástico y me gustó por su color y grosor, regularmente he visto estos elásticos en color blanco, al verlo recordé que tenía tela turquesa en casa y me pareció una combinación perfecta para hacer un top; vivo en una zona tropical y la temperatura es alta durante todo el año, así que este top es una pieza ideal para usar a diario o hacer ejercicio, la tela que usé se llama microdurazno heavy, se está empleando mucho para este tipo de proyecto por su elongación y textura, se parece a un poco a la microdurazno, pero esta es un poco más gruesa y más firme, lo cual la hace perfecta para hacer ropa íntima, franelas y prendas cómodas para los días calurosos, les invito me acompañen en el proceso de elaboración.

Elaboration
The making process requires a few steps. I started by marking the pieces and then cutting them; front and back. From the front, I cut two pieces so that it has a lining and a main part. Having two front pieces makes it firmer and provides better support to the bust.

To assemble the top, I placed the two front pieces right sides together, placed the straps at the neck, pinned them in place, and sewed from the armhole to the other end, leaving the sides open.

Then I placed a blackberry bias on top of the back piece bias, facing the wrong side of the bias to the fabric so the blackberries were facing inwards, used a decorative stitch when I finished attaching the bias, turned the blackberries right side out and sewed again.

Once the straps were attached, the next step was to measure the hemline and subtract ten (10) centimeters. This gave me the elastic measurement (80 - 10 = 70 cm). Then, I joined the elastic, facing the ends together, and re-stitched it to reinforce the seams.
To finish, I placed the elastic inside out, divided it into four parts, and sewed with a straight stitch, stretching one (1) by five (5) centimeters. Then, I turned the elastic right side out and sewed with a zigzag stitch. With these simple steps, the Vera Salacia-inspired top is finished.
