Me complace llegar a tiempo y tener voluntad después de tanto, para participar en la actividad de Lunes de Costura. Esta actividad me causa bastante nostalgia, la mayoría de las veces confeccionaba algo para mi nieta Lis. Pero la vida hay que continuarla, hay que echarle ánimos y cultivar las cosas que nos hacen felices. Para esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes la elaboración de una Falda de Cuadros para Niña. Esta pieza estará destinada para ser parte de un conjunto que posteriormente estará a la venta en mi pequeño emprendimiento.
I am pleased to arrive on time and have the will after so much, to participate in the Sewing Monday activity. This activity makes me quite nostalgic, most of the time I made something for my granddaughter Lis. But life must be continued, we must encourage it and cultivate the things that make us happy. For this opportunity I want to share with you the making of a Checkered Skirt for Girls. This piece will be destined to be part of a set that will later be for sale in my small business.
Una linda falda siempre es bienvenida, porque puede combinarse con alguna blusa y unas zapatillas o sandalias. Es una pieza fresca y ligera, hecha con tela de Microdurazno y una cintura con tela elastizada. El estampado de la pieza de hoy es muy lindo, porque tiene variados colores, permitiendo así que las posibilidades de combinación sea más amplia.
A nice skirt is always welcome, because it can be combined with a blouse and some sneakers or sandals. It is a fresh and light piece, made with Micropeach fabric and an elasticated fabric waist. The print on today's piece is very pretty, because it has various colors, thus allowing for broader combination possibilities.
Esta falda me hizo recordar a mi hija, ella nunca disfrutó de usar faldas. Era una niña que no se sentía comoda con las faldas, ganchitos, maquillaje, ni nada que fuese muy femenino. Prefería optar por vestimentas de franela y pantalón, además de una coleta básica. Cuando a veces estoy de visita en casa de mi hija y se da la ocasión, recordamos a risas esos recuerdos de la infancia. Además de que reafirmammos que su hija es total y absolutamente lo contrario a ella, mi nieta es muy coqueta.
This skirt reminded me of my daughter, she never enjoyed wearing skirts. She was a girl who did not feel comfortable with skirts, hooks, makeup, or anything that was very feminine. She preferred to opt for flannel and pants outfits, as well as a basic ponytail. When I am sometimes visiting my daughter's house and the occasion arises, we laugh about those childhood memories. In addition to reaffirming that her daughter is totally and absolutely the opposite of her, my granddaughter is very flirtatious.

Proceso de Creación / Creation Process
Iniciamos cortando las piezas, éstas son dos. Una para la elástica de la cintura, para ello medimos el contorno de cintura. Y la otra pieza es el cuerpo de la falda, agregamos centimetros extras a lo ancho para realizar algunos dobleces. Y lo alto, dependerá de que tan larga quisieran la falda.
We start by cutting the pieces, these are two. One for the waist elastic, for this we measure the waist circumference. And the other piece is the body of the skirt, we added extra centimeters widthwise to make some folds. And the height will depend on how long you want the skirt.

Habiendo cortado las piezas, nos vamos a nuestra máquina de coser para armar las piezas. Iniciamos con el listón de la cintura, enfrentamos desde el derecho y unimos con costura recta, reforzamos con zigzag. Al haber cosido, ya estaría lista la cintura.
Having cut out the pieces, we go to our sewing machine to assemble the pieces. We start with the waist ribbon, face from the right side and join with a straight seam, reinforcing with a zigzag. The waist would be ready.
Ahora doblamos la pieza de la cintura para hacerla doble y enfrentamos el cuerpo de la tela, derecho con derecho. Realizaremos una costura por todo el contorno formando pliegues cada cuanto deseemos.
Now we fold the waist piece to make it double and face the body of the fabric, right side to right side. We will sew a seam around the entire contour, forming folds whenever we want.
Habiendo unido el cuerpo con la cintura, cerramos el costado que proximamente se convertirá en la parte trasera de la falda.
Having joined the body with the waist, we close the side that will soon become the back of the skirt.
Ahora nos resta hacer el dobladillo inferior.
Now we have to do the bottom hem.

La costura ha sido parte de mi mejora emocional, me ayuda a mantener mi mente y cuerpo de manera activa. Además de que reafirma dentro de mí los pensamientos de que pese a mi edad, sigo siendo útil para la vida.
