Hello everyone

Happy weekend to you all creative minds and lovers of hive, I hope you are having a great time out there, it's my pleasure to share with you today Saturday, the making of this simple pencil casing I made for my little nephew with zipper and handle.

Children will never cease to be children, it's barely few weeks after resumption and my nephew has misplaced almost all the color pencils bought for him, well on the other hand, I wouldn't blame him because the pencil pack itself was not strong enough since he goes to school with it often and this can make the paper used to make the pack torn easily, but regardless, children can't keep things the way we expect an adult to. Since he has almost misplaced all his pencils with the excuse that the pack was not strong enough, I offered to make a pencil case for him to help him keep his pencils before putting it in his bag, as you all know, this is what I love to do, using pieces of fabric to make something creative and useful.

Below are the few steps in making this pencil casing

I measured and cut out 10 x 5" of fabric with interfacing and lining while the interfacing was ironed on the main fabric

I measured 1 x 1" on the four sides and cut it out and it was repeated on the other fabric and lining as well.

For the handle, I cut out 3 x 6" which was folded in and sewn on both sides

I placed a zipper on the main fabric and the lining was placed on it mid point to mid point and it was sewn together

The same process was repeated on the other side of the zipper and was top stitched on them I placed fabric to fabric and lining to lining while all the sides were sewn together with the handle inserted in it, leaving the edges and a small opening on the lining where it can be turned inside out.

The edges were placed together and sewn on the four sides

It was turned inside out through the opening on the lining and the opening was top stitched on

The lining was inserted in and this is the final outcome

Now my nephew can put all his pencils in this pencil case before being kept in his bag and after use, he can zip it up, I believe this will last longer.
