Hola amigos, ¿cómo están todos hoy? Yo súper, súper feliz. Durante el fin de semana hicimos en casa una limpieza y ordenamiento de los armarios, escaparates y gavetas, recogimos todo aquello que no era útil, los desechos y algunas prendas de vestir en mal estado o desgastadas. Algunas se fueron en el camión recolector, otros se usarán para reciclar (hacer trapillo) y algunos otros los mandamos a reparar. Tal es el caso de mis bellas sandalias tejidas. Aquellas que les mostré hace un poco más de un año. Las tejí con un retazo de hilo nylon que me quedaba. Le coloqué un lindo aplique brillante. Este tejido me encantó, tenía unas sandalias ya rotas y aproveché la suela que aún se ve bien buena. Así que puse manos a la obra y empecé a montar el tejido en las suelas.
Hi friends, how are you all today? I am super, super happy. During the weekend we did at home a cleaning and tidying of closets, showcases and drawers, we collected everything that was not useful, waste and some clothes in bad condition or worn out. Some went to the collection truck, others will be used for recycling (making rag) and some others we sent them to be repaired. Such is the case of my beautiful woven sandals. The ones I showed you a little over a year ago. I knitted them with a piece of nylon thread that I had left. I added a nice shiny applique. I loved this fabric, I had some broken sandals and I took advantage of the sole that still looks good. So I got to work and started to mount the fabric on the soles.
Estaba muy emocionada porque al fin ví la posibilidad de estrenar mi sandalias tejidas. Lo que hice fue montarlas a la medida de mi pie, las sujeté con una cinta adhesiva para que el zapatero tuviera claro donde coser. No estaba segura si esto podría salir bien, pero igual me entusiasmé y las acomodé.
Miren que bonitas son. El tejido es calado. El hilo nylon conserva muy bien el color y aún brilla el aplique. Algo que no me gusta del tejido con este hilo es que ensancha un poco con el caminar. Espero que al usarlas no estiren mucho ya que pensando en eso el tejido lo realicé para que me quedara ajustado al pie. ¡Es lo mejor de tejer para uno mismo!
I was very excited because I finally saw the possibility of wearing my woven sandals for the first time. What I did was to assemble them to the size of my foot, I fastened them with an adhesive tape so that the shoemaker would have a clear idea of where to sew. I wasn't sure if this would turn out well, but I got excited and put them on anyway.
Look how pretty they are. The fabric is openwork. The nylon thread holds the color very well and the applique still shines. One thing I don't like about knitting with this yarn is that it stretches a bit with walking. I hope that when I wear them they don't stretch too much because I knitted them so that they fit snugly to my foot. That's the best thing about knitting for yourself!
Ayer pasé por la tienda donde reparan zopatos, unas de las más populares y antiguas de la ciudad. Hacía más de dos años que no los visitaba y me sorprendió ver qué hay otro zapatero, para mí el anterior era el mejor. Luego de conversar con mi hermanita sobre esto me decidí a dejar mis sandalias y dos pares más de zapatos para reparar. Esta zapatería siempre ha tenido la fama de realizar excelentes trabajos y yo no visitaba otra.
El joven fue muy amable, revisó cada uno de los zapatos y me dió el precio por cada uno: las sandalias pegadas y cosidas por un costo de 30,00 bsd (4$), los zapatos deportivos pegados y cosidos por un valor de 40,00 bsd (5$) y los zapatos de cuero para caballero pegados y cosidos por 45,00 bsd (6$). Estos precios fueron convenientes ya que comprar actualmente un par de zapatos nuevos para mí o para mis hijos costaría, lo mínimo por un par de corta duración al menos 10$. Creo que me ahorré bastante dinero y tendremos calzados para usar por unos meses más.
Yesterday I passed by the store where they repair shoes, one of the most popular and oldest in the city. It had been more than two years since I had visited them and I was surprised to see that there is another cobbler, for me the previous one was the best. After talking to my little sister about it I decided to leave my sandals and two more pairs of shoes to repair. This shoe shop has always had a reputation for excellent work and I never visited another one.
The young man was very nice, checked each of the shoes and gave me the price for each: the sandals glued and stitched for a cost of 30.00 bsd ($4.00), the sports shoes glued and stitched for a value of 40.00 bsd ($5.00) and the men's leather shoes glued and stitched for 45.00 bsd ($6.00). These prices were convenient as currently buying a new pair of shoes for me or my children would cost, the minimum for a short lasting pair at least 10$. I think I saved quite a bit of money and we will have shoes to wear for a few more months.
Los zapateros son personas cuyo oficio es indispensable en la sociedad, más aún en estos tiempos en los que debemos alargar la vida útil de todo, especialmente de aquellos zapatos que nos brindan comodidad y son de buena calidad. El inconveniente con los encargados y dueños de esta zapatería es que a pesar de los años siguen cobrando solo en efectivo y ahora reciben pago móvil. Yo no tenía esa cantidad de dinero en efectivo en el momento y tampoco llevaba mi teléfono para hacer el pago por lo que al llegar a la casa les envié el dinero y el chico comenzó a trabajar. El trabajo lo realizó en menos de 24 horas. Eso también me gustó porque me gusta cuando el trabajo se hacen bien y con prontitud.

The problem with the managers and owners of this shoe store is that despite the years they continue to charge only in cash and now receive mobile payment. I didn't have that kind of money in cash at the time and I didn't have my phone with me to make the payment so when I got home I sent them the money and the guy started working. The job was done in less than 24 hours. I also liked that because I like it when the work is done well and promptly.
Allí dejé mis zapatos ayer para reparar muy confiada y satisfecha con los precios. Hoy vengo de retirarlos. Ahora ya tengo dos pares de zapatos para usar y puedo modelar el hermoso tejido que hice para mí. ¡Estoy contenta! Ha sido un WIP inesperado, trabajo concluido, completado y a muy buen precio!
I left my shoes there yesterday for repair very confident and satisfied with the prices. Today I just came back to pick them up. Now I have two pairs of shoes to wear and I can model the beautiful fabric I made for myself, I'm happy! It was an unexpected WIP, work completed, completed and at a very good price!

Todo el tejido es nuevo, nunca usado. Lo tejí hace más de un año, pero no lo había enviado a montar en la suela. Gracias a Dios tenía esa suela y me decidí a llevarlas. Ando estrenando jejeje.
