Hola amigos. Espero que estén teniendo un hermoso día. Por aquí haciendo un poco de calor en estos primeros días de marzo, lo que no es nada sorprendente ya que pronto inicia la época del calor y la semana Santa.
El día de hoy les quiero compartir una experiencia muy bonita que viví con mi mamá. Antes de irse para su casa, hicimos varios proyectos. Entre ellos alfombras con trapillo artesanal, tejimos cestas organizadoras y también hicimos moñeras o colitas de tela con elásticas. Pasamos días súper felices haciendo lo que nos gusta a ambas.
Hello friends. I hope you are having a beautiful day. It's getting a little hot around here in these first days of March, which is not surprising since the hot season and Easter week are starting soon.
Today I want to share with you a very nice experience I had with my mom. Before leaving for home, we made several projects. Among them we made rugs with handmade rag, we wove organizing baskets and we also made bows or fabric tails with elastic. We spent super happy days doing what we both love.
Mi mamá estuvo varios días en mi casa y aprovechamos para elegir algunos retazos de telas. Ella se encargó de elegirlas todas. Decidió hacer para ella unas cuantas con las telas más bonitas que vio. Casualmente yo le había regalado una blusa y un pantalón y ella encontró las telas precisas para hacerse sus colas y combinarlas con esa ropa. Me encantó ver a mi mamá disfrutar del proceso haciendo las colas.
My mom was at my house for several days and we took the opportunity to pick out some fabric scraps. She was in charge of choosing them all. She decided to make a few for herself with the prettiest fabrics she saw. Coincidentally, I had given her a blouse and a pair of pants and she found the right fabrics to make her tails and match them with those clothes. I loved watching my mom enjoy the process of making the tails.
Mi trabajo era ayudarla a recortar de manera recta algunas de las telas. Ella me decía cuáles telas eran buenas para ese tipo de proyecto y yo las medía y las cortaba. Me quedé asombrada cuando ví que teníamos muchos retazos. La verdad es que compartir lo que te gusta hacer con alguien de tu familia es lo máximo, más aún si es la mamá con años de experiencia 🙂
Habían telas de muchos colores y características, luego de elegirlas bien, hicimos la selección y con esas hicimos las moñeras.
My job was to help her cut some of the fabrics straight. She would tell me which fabrics were good for that type of project and I would measure and cut them. I was amazed when I saw that we had a lot of scraps. The truth is that sharing what you like to do with someone in your family is the best, even more so if it is the mom with years of experience 🙂
There were fabrics of many colors and characteristics, after choosing them well, we made the selection and with those we made the bows.
Ustedes se preguntarán si ya pude comprar la máquina. Pero no, esa es la máquina de mi hermana. La trajimos a la casa 🏠 para poder hacer las moñeras cosidas y reforzadas. Mi mamá tiene años cosiendo, a pesar de que nunca hizo curso, todo lo aprendió en el hacer diario.
Yo todavía no sé coser con la máquina. Y la verdad es que me desanima un poco tratar de comprar una ya que mi mamá siempre ha tenido problemas con sus máquinas. Les confieso que tardamos muchas horas haciéndolas, dos días para ser exacta porque el hilo se salía de la aguja con mucha frecuencia, entonces había que volver a ensaltar y en eso se nos iba el tiempo. Gracias a Dios fuimos pacientes y pudimos terminar.
You may wonder if I have been able to buy the machine yet. But no, that's my sister's machine. We brought it to the house 🏠 to be able to make the stitched and reinforced stitches. My mom has been sewing for years, even though she never took a course, she learned everything from everyday life.
I still don't know how to sew with the machine. And the truth is that it discourages me a little to try to buy one since my mom has always had problems with her machines. I confess that it took us many hours to make them, two days to be exact because the thread came out of the needle very often, then we had to thread again and that was the time we were spending. Thank God we were patient and were able to finish.
Después ayudé a mi mamá a ensaltar la aguja de coser a mano para terminar de darle algunas costuras a las que quedaron mal cosidas por aquello del problema de la máquina. Y también cosí algunas cuantas.
Aproveché de agarrar también una cola para mí ya que me hacía falta. Elegí la de color rojo porque me gusta mucho ese color y la tela es aterciopelada. Mi mamá agarro para ella todas las de tela brillantes y las que combinan con su nueva ropa. La pasamos muy bien juntas cosiendo.
Then I helped my mom thread the sewing needle by hand to finish sewing some of the seams that were badly sewn because of the machine problem. And I also sewed a few seams.
I also took the opportunity to get some glue for myself because I needed it. I chose the red one because I really like that color and the fabric is velvety. My mom grabbed all the shiny fabrics for her and the ones that match her new clothes. We had a great time sewing together.
Ella ahora está en el pueblo donde vive, en su casita con sus nietos y mi hermano. Aquí quedaron algunas moñeras que quizá regale en el momento oportuno. Lo mejor de todo es que pasé dos días cosiendo con mi mamá y ambas lo disfrutamos. Espero volver a vivir esa experiencia con ella pronto. Luego les voy a compartir sobre los otros proyectos que hicimos.

She is now in the village where she lives, in her little house with her grandchildren and my brother. Here are some moñeras that I may give away at the right time. The best of all is that I spent two days sewing with my mom and we both enjoyed it. I hope to live that experience with her again soon. Then I will share with you about the other projects we did.

Tienes razón...tu mami se quedó con las más brillantes y de todos los colores. Me alegra un montón que hayan pasado un tiempo juntas divirtiéndose. Las moñeras siguen siendo mis accesorios favoritos, junto a los llaveros.
