Hola amigos 🤗 espero que estén súper bien. Todavía quedan muchos días para que culmine el desafío propuesto por nuestra amiga @crosheille el cual consiste en presentar aquellos proyectos que hemos tenido planeados y que por alguna u otra razón los hayamos pospuestos. Tenemos tres meses para ejecutarlos todos o los que se puedan en el tiempo establecido. Te invito a unirte y participar 🙋 aún queda tiempo. No olvides leer las bases del desafío
Cuando leí sobre este reto no pude evitar emocionarme porque en cada uno de estos desafíos veo la oportunidad para ejecutar proyectos que tengo en lista, para mi suerte siempre tengo cosas que hacer. Me gusta estar activa haciendo manualidades, ahora permanezco en casa y dispongo del tiempo para elaborar diversos proyectos. Debo contarles que cuando inicié en #Hive ví la posibilidad de poner en marcha los planes de remodelación y decoración de algunas partes de mi casa. Ya es la hora de poner manos a la obra y empezar. Mi mayor limitación para realizar los proyectos más grandes ha sido obtener los materiales ya que son proyectos ambiciosos que he ido postergando y en ese esperar los costos de los insumos se han elevado bastante.
No obstante, siempre es buen momento para comenzar y por supuesto que voy a hacerlo para compartirles mi experiencia y participar en este desafío. Realmente para mí lo será porque lo que no he logrado en tres años trataré de hacerlo en tres meses, ya menos. ¡Empecemos!
DISEÑANDO ASIENTOS NUEVOS PARA MIS MUEBLES DE MADERA.
Hace más de 15 años que compré a crédito este juego de muebles elaborados en madera, recuerdo muy bien ese día porque me atreví a "agarrar fiao" por primera vez. Así decimos los venezolanos cuando obtenemos un producto, mientras lo usamos y disfrutamos lo vamos pagando. En mi hogar no estábamos de acuerdo en adquirir deudas innecesarias, pero ese día yo me enamoré de dos jarrones de arcilla muy grandes y de este juego de muebles. Me arriesgué a pedirlos porque ya estaba trabajando y me sentía comprometida a pagarlos. Por diferentes razones tuve que sacar los muebles y los abandoné, se llenaron de polvo, se decoloraron un poco y se deterioró el hierro forjado. A pesar de eso los muebles están intactos en su estructura, por lo que ahora quiero adelantar parte del trabajo de recuperación que tengo pensado para ellos.
Atreverse es el primer paso.
Le pedí a mi hijo que trajera los muebles a la sala para trabajar más cómoda. Así que empecé sacudiendo todo el polvo y quitando las telas de arañas.
Reciclar es el segundo paso.
Busqué entre mis cosas guardadas y encontré dos retazos de telas estampadas y una colchoneta aún en buen estado. Enseguida puse manos a la obra e inicié mi trabajo. Corté en tres partes la colchoneta, después cosí todo los orillos para volver a cerrar el forro gris y grueso que trae la goma espuma. El tamaño quedó justo para hacer los tres asientos para los muebles.
Quedaron un poco pequeños, pero cumplen con la función de amortiguar el peso del cuerpo sobre la madera. Me encanta ver qué sí pude completar este paso, al tener los asientos listos lo demás es buscar la tapicería o telas para forrar y decorar.
Tapizar o forrar es el tercer paso.
Del primer retazo de tela saqué los tres forros para los asientos. Sólo corté, cosí, metí la esponja y cerré la costura. Muy sencillo. Pretendo que este sea el forro permanente de los asientos.
Decorar es el cuarto paso.
Ya estaba tan emocionada que también aproveché de realizar una cortina para la ventana de mi sala. Usé el segundo retazo de tela estampada, que me dió o alcanzó al ras para el espacio pequeño de mi ventana. Igualmente fue una costura sencilla. Apenas hice un doblés en la parte alta, más angosta de la tela, cosí dejando un orificio para pasar el tubo del cortinero y después agarré un pequeño ruedo. Todo el trabajo está realizado a mano con la ayuda de los alfileres. Estos alfileres son excelentes aliados en los momentos de las costuras, no deben faltarnos.
Le pedí a mi hijo ayuda para poner el cortinero y así quedó ya montada. Me gusta como se ve. Esto es un breve ensayo de lo que haré cuando tenga las telas de tapicería y de cortinas que deseo realmente.
Estrenar es el quinto paso.
Para finalizar busqué cómo ordenar los muebles de tal modo que se vean bien en la sala además de cómodos. Toda mi casa es pequeña por lo que no puedo inventar mucho en la remodelación de estos espacios. El techo está bastante deteriorado y cuando llueve casi toda la sala se moja, es uno de las razones por la que me he cohibido de realizar este tipo de detalles para mi casa.
Por ahora así quedará. Estoy satisfecha porque he practicado, ya tengo hechos los primeros asientos y la primera cortina para mi casa. Con total seguridad podré salir a comprar las telas que quiero, solo tomaré de nuevo las medidas y listo. Muchísimas gracias por crear este desafío. Hi friends 🤗 hope you are super well. There are still many days left for the challenge proposed by our friend @crosheille which consists of presenting those projects that we have had planned and for some reason or another we have postponed them. When I read about this challenge I couldn't help but get excited because in each of these challenges I see the opportunity to execute projects that I have on my list, lucky for me I always have things to do. I like to be active doing crafts, now I stay at home and I have the time to elaborate different projects. I must tell you that when I started #Hive I saw the possibility to put into action plans to remodel and decorate some parts of my house. Now it's time to get down to work and get started. My biggest limitation in doing the larger projects has been obtaining the materials since they are ambitious projects that I have been putting off and in that wait the costs of supplies have risen quite a bit.
However, it is always a good time to start and of course I am going to do it to share my experience and participate in this challenge. It really will be for me because what I have not achieved in three years I will try to do in three months, less already. Let's get started!
DESIGNING NEW SEATS FOR MY WOODEN FURNITURE.
More than 15 years ago I bought on credit this set of furniture made of wood, I remember that day very well because I dared to "agarrar fiao" for the first time. That's how we Venezuelans say when we get a product, while we use it and enjoy it, we pay for it. In my home we did not agree to acquire unnecessary debts, but that day I fell in love with two very large clay vases and this set of furniture. I took the risk of ordering them because I was already working and felt committed to pay for them. For various reasons I had to take the furniture out and abandoned them, they got dusty, a little discolored and the wrought iron deteriorated. In spite of that the furniture is intact in its structure, so now I want to advance part of the recovery work I have in mind for them.
Daring is the first step.
I asked my son to bring the furniture into the living room so I could work more comfortably. So I started by dusting off all the dust and removing the cobwebs.
Recycling is the second step.
I rummaged through my stash and found two scraps of patterned fabric and a mat still in good condition. I immediately got to work and began my work. I cut the mat in three parts, then I sewed all the selvages to close the thick gray lining that comes with the foam rubber. The size was just right to make the three seats for the furniture.
They were a little small, but they do the job of cushioning the weight of the body on the wood. I love to see that I was able to complete this step, having the seats ready the rest is to find the upholstery or fabrics to cover and decorate.
Upholstering or lining is the third step.
From the first piece of fabric I made the three seat covers. I just cut, sewed, stuffed the sponge in and closed the seam. Very simple. I intend this to be the permanent seat lining.
Decorating is the fourth step.
I was already so excited that I also took the opportunity to make a curtain for my living room window. I used the second piece of patterned fabric, which I had enough to fit the small space of my window. It was still a simple seam. I just hemmed the top, narrowest part of the fabric, sewed leaving a hole for the drapery tube and then grabbed a small hem. All the work is done by hand with the help of pins. These pins are excellent allies at the time of sewing, they should not be missing.
I asked my son to help me put the drapery on and this is the way it is now mounted. I like the way it looks. This is a brief rehearsal of what I will do when I get the upholstery and drapery fabrics I really want.
Stripping is the fifth step.
To finish I looked at how to arrange the furniture so that it looks nice in the living room as well as comfortable. My whole house is small so I can't invent much in remodeling these spaces. The ceiling is quite deteriorated and when it rains almost the whole room gets wet, that's one of the reasons why I have shied away from doing this kind of details for my house.
For now it will stay like this. I am satisfied because I have practiced, I have already made the first seats and the first curtain for my house. I will surely be able to go out and buy the fabrics I want, I will just take the measurements again and that's it. Thank you so much for creating this challenge.
