#needlework
Months ago I made my first crochet shirt and there was a lot of story to it. First off, I've never made a crochet shirt. It's just one of those things I always had in mind to make for myself because I think it looks really comfy and fineeeee.
Now I had a fashion event to prepare for and I'm not really an outside baby so I asked my friend to come with me so I'd at least have someone to talk to while I'm having fun at the event because anything fashion is my thing so a show is not left out.
The issue was that I started making this shirt literally 2 days before the event. The dress I made for myself was a flare long-sleeved short sundress and believe you me, abii how do they say it, it took timeeeeeeee, so I ran out of all the time I could spare and we already made plans months before to attend the event together so there was no where I could just pop out and say we'd have to cancel going together because I could not meet up the time.
I started in the morning, and yeah it was a lot, I was constantly thinking of the time and if I could meet up. After a while the thoughts got quiet and I was able to concentrate solely on making this shirt. I took a look at a t-shirt tutorial on YT that messandra posted. It's a different stitch though but I need to just get the basis of “yeah this is how it works and that's where this should go”.
After watching for a few minutes (I couldn't lose even 1 second) I started making mine. I had already picked out the color weeks prior and the supplies were in place so all I had to do was stitch it up.
The part that took more time was the front because I had to constantly stop, measure and mark with stitch markers so the collar space would be equal and neat.
After I finished the front I got started with the back panel which took less time ‘cause after I did the foundation chain I could turn my brain off and just keep stitching till I got to the desired length for the shirt.
Day 2 was me putting the two panels together, making the sleeves and cleaning up the yarns that were sticking out on the edges.
At this point I literally had less than 24hrs to do my fitting and prep the rest of the accessories we had for the event and also get ourselves there early so we could take pictures as well as enjoy the runway show without having to miss any part of it.
It is safe to say that the plans were indeed very successful and I got to make this pretty shirt - that I will be making for myself soon - for this fine man. The event was totally worth every second spent preparing.
Supplies used for this project:
5.0mm crochet hook
Stitch markers
Darning needle
Acrylic yarn
Scissors
Measuring tape
Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
This isn't a shirt, it's a work of art. I love it, but I love it in ways you can't imagine. Congratulations on this beautiful work.
Great! I had seen women's clothing designs before, but now I see this one and it's fantastic. You are so talented, lady!
