Orange Crochet Shrug

#Needleworkmonday Hello needleworkers, I hope that you’re having a lovely day. I made this orange shrug for a client and I hope you all love it.

A client texted me for the first time and requested that I send samples of the shrugs I have so she can pick a particular design she’ll prefer and I will make it for her.

I was happy that the whole process was so easy. I sent her the pictures, she went through it for some time and eventually picked a multicolored one but said she wanted this pattern but hers would be plain orange. I said okay that’s possible, gave her the price for service and she made payment. Honestly getting straightforward customers is a thing of joy when you’re in business because most would always stress you and elongate the whole ordering process.

I went yarn shopping the next day since it was a weekday and I was already planning to head that way. I got the color and I went straight to work and all I can say is I was excited to make this project.

The excitement was somehow short lived because I started tearing up mid project (I didn’t have my glasses at that time so my eyes were prone to react to brightness)
I got over it eventually and went back to work.

The pattern didn’t give me any issue because it was not my first time making it. I finished the body in a day because of the numerous breaks I took so my eyes won’t hurt.

Went on to the sleeves the next day. Honestly I felt it’ll be big because she didn’t send her measurement. I just looked up standard medium measurement and made use of what I saw online.

I finished up one part of the sleeve and yeah I ran out of yarn and it was already too late to get another so I had to pause it till the next day. I headed to the market again, I finished up the second part of the sleeve and now it was hiding excessive yarn that was poking out of the project.

This was really tasking because I had to look at the project all through while I was doing this part. I eventually finished and it looked neat. I had to take pictures of it so I put it on the mannequin so I’ll get an accurate look and I can also send it to the client so she’ll know it’s ready for pick up.

I had it with me for a few days then she came to pick it. She couldn’t try it on because she was in a hurry but sent pictures when she got home and that she loved it and would send pictures when she tried it on.

She did send the pictures and was overjoyed. Not everyday one gets a client that appreciates your work enough to show it off.

This is a list of the things I used to make it:
*4.0mm hook
*darning needle
*5 balls of 40g yarns
*measurement tape
*stitch markers

Ps: the pictures here belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.

Hey :) I think these sleeves are in fashion and it's good that you chose this bright color. Your client will surely love it :)

Welcome to Needle Work Monday Community 💙!

Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share about their needlework life with us. We love hearing stories and what types of things inspired your projects. We challenge you to put some feeling and emotion into your publications and help us get to know the needler behind the fabric.

Feel free to share photos of your work but it’s optional if you choose to share the steps with us (we do require you share the step process in at least one of your posts for validation purposes). If you just want to needle and share about that time we’d love to hear about it. 😊

I also invite you to join our Discord channel.
