Amigurumi de Sarah Kay.iniciartecraft.Diana Huaranca.jpeg

¡Hola, espero la estés pasando muy bien!
Hi, I hope you are having a great time!

Until recently this character was unknown to me. When I was told to knit her, I loved the illustrations. At that moment I knew I had seen her before, I just didn't know her name until then.

Veamos un poco de historia

Let's take a look at some history

The illustrations of the Australian Vivien Kubbos, known under the pseudonym "Sarah Kay", went around the world. In Latin America back in 1979, specifically Argentina was going through a complicated time and the idea of educating girls (mainly) with these illustrations was born there (Caldo, 2015).

Today these illustrations are still in use, and there are even several illustrations based on Sarah Kay's style. In addition, in Argentina, various things (notebooks, pens, greeting cards, magazines, etc.) of hers are still sold.

Proceso de diseño

Design process

The first thing I do when I see a reference image is to look at the colours and analyse how to achieve that shade and texture. Then I look at the shapes that make up the character and think about the weaving techniques to use to get it onto the amigurumi. Finally I see if I can apply all of the above to the size desired by the client.

I think I need more practice in knitting hats, because that's where I got stuck, haha. Happily it came out on the second try.

¡…Hasta la próxima!
See you next time!

In this design I used advanced techniques for the sleeves and trousers.
