Suni lives in the high altitudes of the Andean altiplano. Intense solar radiation is not a problem for her, as the pigmentation of her skin makes her resistant to it.

In the mornings she visits Prisilla, together they venture into the fields to look for insects to greet them and then draw them. They do this at certain times of the year, due to the importance of the presence/absence of certain insect species as biological indicators. They do the same with other animals such as birds, reptiles, amphibians, rodents, etc.

¡Hola, espero la estén pasando muy bien!
Hi, I hope you are having a great time!

After weeks of trying to get the idea of this amigurumi right, I present to you "Suni", a character inspired by this not so well known native grain called "black quinoa" (Chenopodium quinoa). Today we will look at some parts of the design process.

Lo más entretenido / Most entertaining

q1.jpg

Those of you who knit surely know this type of stitch (fig. left), it is called "strawberry stitch" and for this a Tunisian crochet is used. After knitting row 1, I realised that this stitch was too complicated for me, so I decided to imitate the strawberry stitch by a series of high and half high stitches using a common crochet (fig. right).

Probándole el vestido / Trying on the dress

q2.jpg

Before I mention that I love to wear trainers and ankle boots (according to me to escape in case I run into a friend of a stranger) and that is reflected in my knitwear. Moving on to the dress, I liked the way the strawberry imitation stitch turned out. I chose that stitch because it's the most similar to quinoa grains with their sepaloid perigonium (sepaloid perigonium).

Cabello tejido / woven hair

q3.jpg

Another special feature is the woven hair. After trying different hair options, I decided that all my designs should have hair woven with the same yarn used to weave the amigurumi. The advantage of this is that you can weave different hairstyles.

Lista la niña / Ready the girl

q4.jpg

Finally, I couldn't forget the classic beret cap, just like Prisilla the quinoa.

Cuéntame, ¿cómo te pareció este personaje?
Tell me, what did you think of this character?

¡…Hasta la próxima!
See you next time!

I eat them instead of rice.

Hola Katty y muchas gracias.

Another cute little doll.

It's the Chenopodium friends, haha. Good vibes!.
