Greetings NeedleWorkMonday friends. It's amazing that I'm still surprised by the amount of new ideas that come up on the net to crochet. Today I want to share with you a project that is a little different but very cute and fun.
It is a special bookmark because it has the shape of an amigurumi doll. I have made knitted bookmarks before, but to be honest, it would never have occurred to me to make a bookmark with this design. The ones I have knitted have been much more traditional, with a flat design. This one that I present to you today is a design, if you can say in 3D, which makes it very unusual, but a lot of fun.
I made this particular project at the request of one of my sisters who saw the idea on Instagram and immediately sent me the publication and asked me to make one as a gift for one of her friends who loves to read.
I don't know if the same thing happens to you, but in my case, as I am the only one in my family who knits and makes crafts, most of my family and friends every time they see in their networks some crochet idea they tag me or send me the publication, because of this my networks are all full of publications and announcements about knitting.
The first thought I had when I saw this design was that faces are always a challenge for me, as far as amigurumis are concerned. I tried to persuade my sister to change her mind and choose a puppy or kitten design, as there are lots of ideas on Pinterest for those too and it would be easier to get a pattern I could follow. However, my sister still preferred it to be a little redheaded doll, as her friend has red hair too.
That's how I took the risk to leave my fears behind and try this bookmark with just an Instagram reel as a reference. At first I was a little stressed, but my curiosity and my desire to see the result led me to put my creativity to the test and start knitting without any excuses.
After having finished joining all the pieces of this little doll, I was very satisfied and very happy for having dared to try it. I must say that it was not identical to the reference because I decided to make it in my own style, but I feel that it looks very good. Obviously there are many details that can be improved in future projects, but finishing this project is a great achievement for me, because I was able to overcome my fear of failure in terms of amigurumi faces.
I'm excited to know what my sister thinks and to see the face of the person who will receive this curious gift. What do you guys think, have you seen bookmarks like this before?

Keep Up the good work on Hive ♦️
It’s actually funny how needleworkers always follow their curiosity and desire to see the result to make beautiful works.
This is nice and maybe an antidote to my poor reading habit
Thanks so much for reading.
