Toiletry bag made with very easy steps (ENG/ESP)

Hello dear craft lovers, happy and blessed NeedleWorkMonday!

Starting a new week, my friends, today we are very happy to meet again for this Monday needlework session, to present the projects we've been working on this week and weekend.

I'm sharing a cute little toiletry bag, made with very simple steps. And if you, like me, have thought that making a toiletry bag is very laborious, well, it's actually easier than you imagine. I'd been wanting to make a toiletry bag for a long time, and even after watching tutorials, I didn't dare to do it, until this weekend when I decided to put my ideas to the test.

The material can vary in texture and color, but that doesn't matter. You just have to start developing your skills. In my case, I loved using some red synthetic leather that I'd had stored away for a long time. It's a durable, high-quality material. I had recycled it; it was from a purse a neighbor gave me, and after using it for a while, I decided to take it apart and save the pieces, intending to reuse it for something useful. And what could be more useful than a toiletry bag? We can organize many things in it to prevent them from getting damaged or lost. It's also a lifesaver when we travel, for carrying makeup, sanitary napkins, and countless other necessities.

Today I'm sharing a step-by-step guide for making a toiletry bag. I hope you like it.

Iniciando nueva semana, mi gente, hoy estamos muy felices de encontrarnos en esta cita de los lunes de agujas, para presentar los proyectos, en los que estuvimos trabajando parte de la semana y fin de semana.

Les comparto un lindo neceser, hecho con pasos muy sencillos, y si ustedes, al igual que yo, han pensado que hacer un neceser es muy trabajoso, pues realmente es más fácil de lo que imaginan, yo tenía mucho tiempo queriendo hacerme un neceser, y aun viendo tutoriales, no me atrevía hacerlo, hasta este fin de semana que decidí poner mis ideas, sobre la mesa para hacerlo.

El material puede variar en cuanto textura, y color, no importa, solo hay que empezar para desarrollar las habilidades, en mi caso me encanto usar un cuero sintético rojo, que tenía guardado, desde hace mucho tiempo, es un material resistente de muy buena calidad, lo tenía reciclado, era de una cartera que me regalo una vecina, y que después de usarlo, por tiempo, decidí descoserlo, y guardar las piezas, con la idea de reutilizarlo en algo útil, y que más útil que un neceser, allí podemos organizar muchas cosas para evitar que se nos dañen, y se pierdan, además es un aliado para cuando vamos de viaje, llevar maquillaje, toallas sanitarias, y un sin fin de cosas necesarias.

Hoy les comparto, pasos guías, para hacer un neceser, espero les guste.

Okay, my loves, once I had the main materials and tools laid out on the table, I started by measuring the rectangle I was going to work with. So, on a scrap of leather, I began marking with a measuring tape. But since the tape was wobbly, when I tried to mark it with a pencil, the line kept coming out crooked. I prefer to work with this material using a ruler or a set square; it's easier for me, but I couldn't find one right away.

You know how it is, it's always about using whatever feels easiest and most confident in what we want to achieve. So I searched until I found a set square, and with it, I began to draw much more comfortably, holding the set square firmly and marking the length and width of the piece with a pencil.

Bien mis amores, y una vez colocados los materiales y herramientas principales sobre la mesa, empecé primeramente, haciendo las medidas del rectángulo con el que voy a trabajar, así que sobre un trozo de retazo de cuero, comencé a marcar con una cinta métrica, pero como la cinta es flácida, al momento de marcar con el lápiz, la línea me estaba quedando torcida, y es que este material, me gusta trabajarlo con una regla, o escuadra se me ha hecho más fácil, pero no las conseguía al momento.

Ustedes saben, que siempre es como se nos haga más fácil para sentirnos aún más seguros de lo que queremos lograr.
Así que busque, hasta que conseguí una escuadra, y con esta comencé a trazar mucho más cómoda, sosteniendo la escuadra con firmeza, y marcando con el lápiz, el largo y ancho de la pieza.

With the rectangle measurements ready, I opened the zipper and divided it into two parts to place on the right sides—the zipper right side and the leather right side—with the zipper teeth facing inward.

Then I held the zipper and fabric pieces in place with pliers at the sides to prevent them from shifting while I sewed them on the sewing machine with a straight stitch. I sewed both sides this way, then folded the zipper over on the right side and sewed an overstitch between the zipper and the leather fabric, as you can see in the photo on the lower right side.

Con las medidas del rectángulo listas, habría el cierre y lo dividí en 2 partes para colocarlos a los lados derechos, es decir, derecho de cierre, y derecho de cuero, con el lado de los dientes del cierre hacia dentro.

Luego sostuve las piezas de cierre y tela, con una pinza, por los lados, para evitar que se fueran a mover, mientras los cosía, en la máquina de coser, con costura recta, así cosí ambos lados, luego doble el cierre, por el lado derecho, y pase una sobre costura, por entre cierre y tela de cuero, como lo pueden observar en la foto, del lado inferior derecho.

What I did next was join both sides of the zipper, insert the zipper pull, leaving the zipper half open so I could turn it right side out. I folded the piece and positioned the zipper, leaving a 3 cm overlap at the top edge. I folded it over and made a small snip with scissors to guide me when I turned it right side out and sewed.

Then I turned it right side out, secured the sides with clips, and sewed both sides with the sewing machine. Next, I marked 3.25 cm from the bottom edges of the bag and 2.25 cm from the top edges, and then cut along the four marked lines.

Lo que hice luego fue unir ambos lados del cierre, colocar el deslizador del cierre, dejando el cierre abierto a la mitad para cuando fuera a voltear, doble la pieza y le di posición al cierre, este quedo con un lado superior de 3 cm por encima del cierre, doble y marque con un piquete con la tijera, para guiarme, para cuando lo fuera a voltear, y a coser.

Enseguida le di la vuelta, sostuve con pinzas los lados, luego pase costuras con la máquina por ambos lados, lo siguiente fue marcar 3 cm,1/4 de los lados inferiores del neceser, y 2 cm, 1/4, de los lados superiores, después corte los 4 lados marcados.

Join the sides horizontally to sew them together, and with this step, all that remains is to turn it right side out, and we will have a useful toiletry bag for multiple uses.

Uni los lados en sentido horizontal, para coserlos, y con este paso, solo resta voltear, y ya tendremos un útil neceser para múltiples usos.

The result when I turned the toiletry bag over, on the right side, was beautiful and neat. The finish was incredible; I loved my work. I felt so enthusiastic that I'll have a lot of work with these techniques, since it's not complicated and is easy to handle.

And to finish it off, adding that special touch of beauty, I cut out a half-flower from leather and also cut some leaves from the remaining leather. Then I hand-sewed them with a needle threaded with black thread. First, I positioned the flower, placed a black button in the center, and sewed it. I also sewed the edges of the flower, all along the black lines.

El resultado al voltear el neceser, por el lado derecho fue hermoso, prolijo, sus acabados quedaron increíbles, adore mi trabajo, me sentí tan entusiasmada que tendré mucho trabajo con estas técnicas, ya que no es complicado y se puede manejar fácilmente.

Y para finalizar dándole ese toque de belleza que resalte, recorte una media flor de cuero y también corte unas hojas con el restante del cuero de la flor, luego lo que hice fue coserlo a mano con una aguja enhebrada con hilo de color negro, donde primero posicione la flor, en el centro le coloque un botón de color negro, y cosí, también cosí los bordes de la flor, por toda la línea de las flores que son de color negro.

With this step, the toiletry bag is ready to use. It turned out spectacularly simple, well-made, without many complicated steps. It's really easy to make, and I hope you now have this idea so you can do your own crafts at home. It's a practical project full of ideas for many purposes.
