#NeedleWorkMonday - It wasn't the initial idea but it was good nonetheless: beautiful asymmetrical dress for my doll. / No era la idea inicial pero fue buena de todos modos: hermoso vestido asimétrico para mi muñeca. 😅❤️

I think that the day I finish a project and stay the same as I imagined in the first place, I don't know what will happen. Is that whenever I start sewing, something ends up being modified but somehow I always manage to get a nice final result. Well, this is exactly what happened today and I'm sharing it with you as part of my project for the Needle Work Monday Community Barbie Contest 😂.

Creo que el día que termine un proyecto y me quede igual a lo imaginé en primer lugar no sé que va a suceder. Es que siempre que comienzo a coser, alguna cosa termina siendo modificada pero de alguna manera siempre me las arreglo para obtener un lindo resultado final. Bueno, esto es exactamente lo que sucedió hoy y lo comparto con ustedes como parte de mi proyecto para el concurso de Barbie de la comunidad Needle Work Monday 😂.

The only thing I kept to the end is that I wanted to make a dress (well, changing the patterns I chose for this would have been difficult so that had to stay that way). All the changes ended up giving rise to this cute asymmetrical dress that surely if I had planned it, it would not turn out like that. This is a plus for improvisation 😅.

Lo único que mantuve hasta el final es que quería hacer un vestido (bueno, cambiar los patrones que escogí para esto hubiera sido difícil así que eso tuvo que mantenerse así). Todos los cambios terminaron originando este lindo vestido asimétrico que seuramente si lo hubiera planeado no me iba a salir así. Esto es un punto a favor para la improvisación 😅.

My favorite dress is the circular skirt. This design has a lot of fabric, it reminds me of princesses and the 15th birthday that I never had so I will replicate it as many times as necessary. One piece for top and one for skirt were enough as this fabric is completely opaque.

Mi vestido favorito es el de falda circular. Este diseño tiene mucha tela, me recuerda a las princesas y al cumpleaños de 15 que nunca tuve así que voy a replicarlo todas las veces que sea necesario. Una pieza para top y una para falda eran suficientes ya que esta tela es completamente opaca.

I had started with all my patience, even doing something I had never done before: ironing the hem. I always do this on the machine but I wanted it to be super cute so I adjusted it and then sewed it.

Había empezado con toda mi paciencia, incluso hice algo que nunca antes había hecho: preparar el dobladillo con la plancha. Siempre hago esto sobre la máquina pero quería que me quede super lindo así que lo acomodé y luego lo cosí.

In order not to have to deal with the small hip space, I decided to join the two pieces by hand. This allowed me more room to maneuver 😅.

Para no tener que estar lidiando con el pequeño espacio de la cadera, decidí unir las dos piezas a mano. Esto me permitió tener más lugar para maniobrar 😀.

For the back opening I left a small cut in the skirt and then I added a brim. I am seriously considering including buttons in my next projects as my machine gets a bit fiddled when it comes to sewing velcro 😂.

Para la abertura de la espalda dejé un pequeño tajo en la pollera y luego agregué un abrojo. Estoy pensando seriamente en incluir botones en mis próximos proyectos ya que mi máquina se retoba un poco cuando se trata de coser velcro 😂.

My real initial idea was to make a Christmas dress where I was going to fill the entire skirt with some white pearls that I have in my house for years. SURPRISE: I never found them. I quickly thought of another idea and that's when I came across this tape that has also been in my house for years (my mom doesn't come off ANYTHING, that's generally bad but sometimes it's good, like now) 😅.

Mi verdadera idea inicial era hacer un vestido navideño en donde iba a rellenar toda la pollera con unas perlitas blancas que tengo en mi casa hace años. SORPRESA: nunca las encontré. Rápidamente pensé en otra idea y ahi fue cuando me topé con esta cinta que también esta en mi casa hace años (mi mamá no se desprende de NADA, eso en general es malo pero a veces es bueno, como ahora) 😅.

This tape is made of plastic: it is quite rigid, so I decided to make a kind of gathering with which I wanted to fill the entire skirt. Well, this is when I found that at the end of the first round the tape was over 😂.

Esta cinta es de plástico: es bastante rígida, por lo que decidí ir haciendo una especie de frunce con la que quería rellenar toda la pollera. Bueno, aquí fue cuando me encontré que al terminar la primera vuelta la cinta se acabó 😂.

In any case, the wide fabric and the plastic tape did not get along very well: the skirt was all deformed because it turned on itself. I tried to make a petticoat (a horror, luckily I did not photograph it), but I could not solve the problem. I ended up ripping the whole thing off in a very violent way (drama queen) 😂.

De todos modos, la tela tan amplia y la cinta plástica no se llevaron muy bien: la pollera quedaba toda deformada porque se giraba sobre sí misma. Intenté hacer una enagua (un horror, por suerte no la fotografié), pero no pude solucionar el problema. Terminé por arrancar todo el volado de una manera muy violenta (drama queen) 😂.

Well, two failed ideas. The third should be the one. At this point I remembered a design that I wanted to try for a long time and it was the short skirt at the front and the long at the back. This was very easy to achieve: you just had to cut the circle so that the top was not centered. This result surprised me because it turned out well, BUT I still didn't know how to decorate the skirt.

Bien, dos idea fallidas. La tercera debía ser la indicada. En este punto recordé un diseño que hace tiempo quería probar y era la de la pollera corta adelante y larga atrás. Esto era muy fácil de lograr: solo había que recortar el círculo de modo tal que el top no quede centrado. Este resultado me sorprendió porque quedó bien, PERO seguía sin saber como decorar la falda.

The main problem was that this red fabric was staring at her and fraying, so she couldn't leave this edge uncovered. In order not to fall into the traditional fabric ruffle that I have already made, I decided to make my own bias tape. I used the iron again (twice I use the iron, amazing) 😂.

El principal problema era que esta tela roja la miraba y se deshilachaba, así que no podía dejar este borde descubierto. Para no caer en el tradicional volado de tela que ya he hecho, decidí fabricar mi propia cinta bies. Otra vez usé la plancha (dos veces que uso la plancha, increíble) 😂.

And here praying that the bias works, I sewed the entire skirt. Unlike split elastic, the flat fabric is very friendly so I got a pretty neat seam ❣️.

Y aquí rogando que el bies funcione, cosí toda la falda. A diferencia del elástico partido, la tela plana es muy amigable así que obtuve una costura bastante prolija ❣️.

To complete the look I added some buttons that I found among my thousands of sewing supplies. They matched well, and oddly you were the buttons on the shirt that I wore in the first Barbie contest . This was a very nice coincidence (another thing that if I planned it, it would not turn out like this) 😂.

Para completar el look añadí unos botones que encontré entre mis miles de insumos de costura. Combinaban bien, y curiosamente eras los botones de la camisa que usé en el primer concurso de Barbie. Esto fue una casualidad muy linda (otra cosa que si la planeaba no me iba a salir así) 😂.

My surprise came when I put the dress on the doll: the bias tape turned out to be somewhat stiff too, so it caused a strange fall in the dress but it was nice (unlike the silly blown plastic tape). I said "wow, this is better than I expected" 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.

Mi sorpresa llegó cuando le puse el vestido a la muñeca: la cinta bies resultó ser algo rígida también, por lo que provocaba una caída extraña en el vestido pero que era agradable (a diferencia del tonto volado de cinta plástica). Dije "wow, esto es mejor de lo que esperaba" 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.

And so I was finally able to finish my dress. It is not the Christmas dress I wanted or the princess dress with ruffles but I am satisfied with the result 😍.

Y así finalmente pude terminar mi vestido. No es el vestido navideño que quería ni el vestido de princesa con volados pero estoy conforme con el resultado 😍.

Guys I swear I tried to comb my doll as much as I could but her hair has been very unruly lately. I think he also needs a day of hairdressing and spa to settle in 😂😂😂😂.

Chicos, les juro que intenté peinar a mi muñeca todo lo que pude pero su cabello está muy rebelde ultimamente. Creo que también necesita un día de peluquería y spa para acomodarse 😂😂😂😂.

I like it because when there is a Barbie contest in my house, everyone contributes ideas about what to do and is on the lookout. You could say that this unites us as a family. I had a lot of fun doing this project, now I have to decide which of my nieces to give them to. I would have loved to have an aunt do this when I was a child. Well, that's what I got. Late but surely I'm fulfilling my desire to make clothes for dolls 💕.

Me gusta porque cuando hay concurso de Barbie en mi casa todos aportan ideas sobre que hacer y están al pendiente. Se podría decir que esto nos une como familia. Me divertí mucho haciendo este proyecto, ahora tengo que decidir a cuál de mis sobrinas se los regalo. Me hubiese encantado tener una tía que haga esto cuando yo era niña. Bueno, es lo que me tocó. Tarde pero seguro estoy cumpliendo mi deseo de hacer ropa para muñecas 💕.
