A flowery outer dress and kimono jacket for needlework Monday

Hello Hiveians and needle worker.

Its another beautiful and industrious Monday and I designed just the right outer dress for this day.
After observing the third mass in lent yesterday, I had lunch and a short nap then went ahead to make a draft of this design first on paper in order to have an idea of what I will cut on the flowery chiffon fabric.

Here is the draft of both the front and back block. A basic bodice measurements. The difference between the front and back bodice is the neckline.
I used 2.5 width by 1.5depth for back
Then 2.5width for front which I then used a curve to join it down to the waist line because of the slash at the center front

Now the pattern contains a basic free hand bodice measurement with extra allowances of 1inch because I want it to be a free outer dress.

The sleeve was 7 inches though I made it a straight 14 inches measurement from the shoulder.
7 inches for bother the shoulder line and sleeves respectively.

Now there was a shoulder slant at the end of the sleeve with 2inches slant.
The round sleeve for this dress was 5-7inches as seen in the picture based on the amount of fabric I had left.

Measurement transfered to fabric

These measurements was then transfered into fabric cutting the back bodice here first.

I made all these using a half yard of fabric, what I had left was a 2inches straight band which am supposed to used to tape the round edge of the cloth but I would also prefer it for a waist band 😂 and that's the confusion because I don't want to tape this round with a bias or something else.

Stitching

I first joined the shoulder and ironed them flat before I moved to joining the side seams.

I had this work completed late into the night and couldn't get a clearer picture, as I ran house chores dinner preparation along side this.

What is a kimono.

This is simply a dress of top with a cut together sleeve, there is no cut at the Armhhole line for attaching sleeve.
When making the pattern the bodice and sleeve are cut together.
Like I have drafted in my pattern above.
This can be cut into a jacket slashing the center front as desired or sewn into a dress without the cut.
Special care must be given to the neckline for a jacket so that we won't have it wider and falling that why I used smaller dimension as seen.

I believe with this illustration anybody who is a novice at sewing can learn how to cut and sew this simple jacket.
