Blessed new week to creative minds and all the beautiful souls in this community. I hope that we all are making more progress and fulfilling our goals for the year.

Personally, I wish to achieve a new milestone with my career each year so that I wouldn't stop with the journey of self-improvement; every giving opportunity I get, I key into it like my life depends on it.

Every day we wake up with new energy, ignoring all the side distractions and negative things of life that try to pull us down because I understand fully well that in the end nobody will ask us about the turbulence, but the question will always be whether we were able to succeed in life or not. If we stick with the negative waves and allow them to weigh us down, then it becomes difficult to have hope or to have to raise our heads daily to continue this walk called life. Regardless of anything that happens in life, keep working, keep hope alive, and have faith that everything will be alright some day.

Today I made my very first female trousers with side pockets. It was such a pleasant moment for me when I sewed the trousers, tried them on, and they came out very perfect.

I have mentioned earlier about how I have challenged sewing pant trousers; even though I tried sewing one for my sister recently, it didn't come out really great, and she has been on my neck ever since to help her readjust it.

There are different kinds of female trousers and I am good at some compared to a fitted pant like this.

Miraculously and coincidentally for me, I happen to catch up with one of my female friends here on Hive who is equally a seamstress and much better than myself at sewing.

She has been a blessing to my life for years before school separated us, and now that she is back in town, I decided to seize the opportunity to learn from her.

She came around to visit me, having gossiped and caught up with old times; she decided to put me through on how to sew a pair of pants, which I decided to add a side pocket to as well since she is good at it.

Like a new learner, I began to cut the fabric under supervision.

The front block with the side pockets of 7" depth and 2"width

I started with the front part of the pant, measured out the crotch depth, hip, and every other part.

Then I placed the front on the back piece and cut that out too.

Placing the front block on the back block and adding allowances to the crotch.

Next she taught me how to cut a side pocket, which I did and measured out here.

It could be 14" wide.

And 12" depth or as desired.

These are the two side pockets.

After cutting out all the parts, I notched the hemming before I began to sew the pants.

Join the side pockets to the front piece of the pant first with neat top stitching.

Then I joined the side seams.

Turned the hemming. Before proceeding to join the crotch

After that I had to sew in the waistband and a zipper.

Everything was so perfect when I tried out the pant. It was now I realized the little silly mistakes I had been making regarding sewing a pant. I just needed some clarity with some parts, which she generously explained clearly.

A lot of people prefer watching YouTube for their tutorials, but my own case is different. I don't easily grasp things from videos compared to physical class like this.

Today I feel so happy that henceforth I will be sewing more perfect pants for every other person. It is such a blessing to have my friend come around and teach me this. What are we friends for if we cannot help each other grow?
