A beautiful new day to everyone, I hope our day is coming in well and that we are finding all the preparation for the festive season and easy and fun-filled one.
I am yet to put up any decoration as I have been busy with other activities. Harvest and a Christmas sewing are taking the bulk of my time.
Within this season I have learnt a lot of things already. Sometimes we don't have to wait until a client brings certain design before we learn how to sew such designs.
Earlier this week a friend has brought me this fabric to sew her a maxi skirt for a church program. This is when I realized that I have never sewn a maxi skirt before.
I rushed at YouTube to check for the best approach to achieve this but you all know that YouTube might be frustrating a times numerous tutorials that do not add up.
I was very conscious while cutting the fabric. I learnt the new method of folding clothes in bias to achieve this design.
After folding the clothes in bias form I cut out the waist measurement and the desired length measurements for the skirt and this is what I got.
Next step is the stitching and hemming of the skirt base
And then I got a very stretchy fabrics, cutting it on bias fold for the band of the skirt.
The bias fold and the stretchiness is very important for the waist line in order to achieve a beautiful firmness on the waist.
Next I notched the center of the skirt and the band together before attaching the skirt to the band.
While Joining you have to ensure that both notched area are aligned together to give the skirt a balance
A final stitching of the skirt from waistline down to the full length of the skirt and our beautiful maxi skirt is ready
Even though it is very long, this is fitted and can be worn with any smart blouse. I'm just glad that I have power supply making my sewing work faster and easier.
One important lesson I have learnt is that it is important for us to get familiar with trending designs even before a clients brings their outfit for sewing, without that we can become exposed to making mistake with clients cloth while making an attempt to sew a design we are not familiar with.b

Woww! This is so beautiful. No one will ever believe that this is your first time sewing Maxi skirt. Just seeing how you sew it I will definitely sew it because I don't have this type of skirt.
I equally do not have this type of skirt but will sew one for myself very soon although not with this fabric. Thanks a lot dear for the kind complement.
