Unlocking the secrets of making a flair blouse//Making my first ever flair blouse

Hello, dearest needleworkers!

I am delighted to share with everyone how I had eventually unlocked the secrets of making a flair blouse. For a long time now, I have wished to make a blouse with the kind of fullness you see falling from this blouse here.

The first attempt I made didn't come out good at all; I didn't get the folding of the fabric right at the time, and it ended up like a different design entirely funny enough. That is equally another secret in fashion when you attempt making a design and it turns out to create something new entirely.

A series of transformations happens hands-on while we work. Sometimes I have a design in mind, but while working I will attempt to adjust things in many ways, resulting in creating a new design different from what I had in mind earlier.

Since I have a yard of fabric at hand, I decided to give it a second try, and you can imagine the joy I felt to have finally gotten it right.

The design can be worn in two ways: either you wear it freely like this

Or get some form of colorful belt to pull it together at the waist, giving it some shape. The fullness here is forming a lovely fold. A red belt will sit perfectly on this compared to the fabric I have used to hold it here.

The problem all this while has been the folding of the fabric.
Once you don't get the folding of a fabric done rightly, it gets impossible to achieve certain designs, and for making this blouse, a diagonal folding was required like this.

After this, all measurements are then taken while the fabric is folded in that manner; this is what gives us the extra fullness I desired in the blouse.

Having taking out the measurements and cut the fabric, I also cut out the facing to turn the necklines adding stay to make them stiffer.

I wanted a blouse without a zipper and one that could easily pass through one's head. I remember how I had once made a dress without a zipper that refused to pass through my head. Since I had very little knowledge of fashion back then, I should have known that zippers make it easy for us to wear outfits, making it possibly wider to pass through the neck and waistline. If anyone desires to make a dress without a zipper, we have to be ready to manipulate the necklines and waste so that we can wear such outfits easily.

IMG-20240911-WA0079.jpg

For a flair blouse like this the waist is free and needs no manipulation but the neckline does.
The best kind of necklines to make for such outfits is a wider and deeper neckline that will be wide enough to accommodate our head, since I didn't want it deeper and showing my collar

I created a slim slit at the front, this is a creative design that is also useful allowing my blouse to pass through my neck easily.

Should we leave it armless or fix a sleeve? Would a fitted sleeve be better than a flair sleeve? I desire to add a flair sleeve to this but that may not seem fashionable.

IMG-20240911-WA0086.jpg

Fashion has some rules, and adding certain designs of sleeves to certain clothes may not be considered acceptable, even if that is what our hearts desire to do, so I leave this to @bimpcy to decide for us which sleeve pattern will be better acceptable for this, a flair sleeve or a simple fitted sleeve? She is more experienced in fashion than I am; hence, I am putting this through to her.😂

Thank you so much

Wow! Boss lady, this is beautiful, I love the flower fabric and how nice the blouse looks, you are really doing a great job.

As for the sleeves, I would have suggested a simple balloon sleeve with elastic at the hem that is if you have enough fabric to do that or trimmed off the extended armhole to make it armless.

I know you will definitely have a better idea and suggestions, thanks for this

You are welcome, looking forward to seeing the final outcome of it.

Me alegra que esta vez si te haya resultado.

Y si hay que saber colocar la tela para obtener los mejores resultados.

Se ve bonita de las dos firmas y sin mangas se ve genial, pero abriéndola un poco más.

I hope to learn from you one day....this is so beautiful

Hahahah, thank you
Maybe it will be better if you learnt to make male outfits either.

Have try that once
But it look complex to me unlike shoemaking

It looks gorgeous. It is elegant, stylish, and beautiful. Love it. Great job!

Thank you so much.

That's a good thing in my opinion, because what seems to be an accident can turn into something very beautiful and authentic. However, I understand what you are saying, there is also the desire to replicate designs to perfection.
This blouse is beautiful on you. You did a great job.

Hahah, thank you so much. You can always give it a try and see.

First off, this fabric is beautiful and I'm already liking the armless look, please let's pipe it, it looks perfect already, especially with our current hot weather. Well done sis

It is a blouse with a lovely design, which I like very much, that volume fall of the fabric looks beautiful and the design of the neckline makes a desired design, also if we combine it with sleeves and belt would look even more spectacular design can vary and still look splendid.

Muy hermosa. Bendiciones 😘.
