And yes!!!!!!!! Alpakas are the best. I once had the opportunity to walk a bit with one and pet it - ohhh so soft, it felt like a cloud and it was such a lovely companion. I only once used the yarn, because its very expensive here, but I remember it to be very smooth and warm. So your shawl will be wonderful to wear.
I cannot see any faults in your handspun yarn, quite the differences, it looks very special and crochets up wonderfully.

Thank you so much for your many kind words @neumannslava! Aren't we our worst critics? I am definitely excited to wear this shawl. I will be making more for friends and relatives. I love making things for the people near and dear to my heart.
I also got to pet an alpaca. So soft! I try to pet any animal that comes close. My list includes a wombat, a grey kangaroo, a koala, most common farm animals and pets, a camel...still want to touch a musk ox, a reindeer, a capybara...my "bucket list."
Ha ha ha! What a "bucket list" indeed! I did ride a camel at a fair once with my children. That was fun. He was a VERY tall animal.
