The feeling you get when an idea of yours materializes and takes up physical form is inexplicable. For me, this sweet feeling washes over me and I feel unimaginably good. I told you guys I’d be back soon to show you the final look of my project. Here I am!
I introduced a fit and flare dress as my WIP about a month ago, and last week, I gave progress report on the dress. If you haven’t been following the progress, you can check out the first post here and the second one here. I’d completed the bodice that had the Diamond pattern and was to start on the skirt. I started right away.
I used the double crochet stitch. In the previous post, I talked about the yarn I got and how I used the 100g one, which is chunkier than the 40g one, for the bodice. For the skirt, I doubled the yarn because the 40g yarn is quite thin. To make it flare, I put two double crochets in each stitch for the first row, and for the second row, every tenth stitch, I’d put two double crochets. After that row, I put only one double crochet in each stitch till I completed the skirt part.
After crocheting both panels, I joined them together.
I used up 4 balls for each panel. Next, I added the straps. I decided to make four cords that I’d tie — two on each panel. I tied the ends and left some threads of yarn hanging. After crocheting the four cords, I started on the four-petal flowers.
Oh, I never mentioned adding flowers! Well, I had it in mind before I began the dress, but I wasn’t certain I’d do it. Well, I chose a dark red colour which was the leftover yarn from my previous project. I made 8 of them and stitched 2 on each cord, close to the bodice of the dress. Voila! My dress was completed.
I used a 4mm hook throughout, 2 balls of 100g yarn, and 8 balls of 40g yarn.
I was entirely satisfied with the outcome of this project. It’s giving fairy vibes, so that’s what I call it — the Fairy Dress. What do you think, guys?
