I'm Such A Tease: Needlework Contest Entry (Eng/Esp)

English: .....................................Español:

Hello fellow needleworkers! I wasn't sure if I was going to enter this contest, because if you know me y'all know I am slow with my projects and not as prolific a crafter as many of you! But I'm going to try it and *hopefully* I manage to get it done by next week! Make an offering of cream to the faeries for me! ;)

I am working with plastic as you can see, so ...plastic craft instead of fiber craft? But there are definitely needles involved!

I started off using metal needles, and I gotta say, that made working with plastic MUCH harder. I went at it, fighting with the needles for way too long. It worked, but it was a pain! The plastic stuck to the metal pretty much all the time.

Eventually though, my brain kicked in and I switched to bamboo needles. Lots easier now! The plastic actually slides on the needle!

So any guesses as to what I am making? Let me know in the comments! :D

I’m glad you figured out an easier way to get moving on this project. I love bamboo. My favorite crochet hooks have bamboo on the handles and it is so much easier on my fingers.

Hmmmm my guess would be a bag holder to hang in your kitchen. That would be cool…a bag holder made out of recycled bags! 😍😄

Thanks for joining in, let’s hope you finish ~

Bagception! 😃

¡Muchas gracias! Me encanta reciclar. :)

Hola!

Very cool, I make plastic bag string on occasion for various tasks around the house, but never attempted crocheting, that's far beyond my skillset.

Hard to see what you might be making, perhaps a voodoo doll?

Ha ha ha ha, to hex oil companies that pollute the world! 😂

I want to know much more about this - how wide were the plastic strips (I guess they are from single use bags)? and what size needles? I can imagine the metal needles were a pain, it is amazing what a difference the needles make, glad you found a solution 😍. I love the colours! So bright.

Hmm, now, a shade for the balcony forest? A blind for the door to nowhere? An ingenious new toy for Yuan? A wet weather mat to catch the drips as you come in? Have I won any prizes yet? 😁

The needles are size 7, as shown on the ends of the metal ones, or 4.5mm if that's the measurement you're used to. The plastic is yes, from single use bags, and knitting yesterday I went through the white and red ball which was so much thicker than the rest that I now have about an inch that is wider than the rest of the knitting, lol. But I'm not picky, that's OK. 😂 I had chosen that bag for having the same texture as the others - the stretchier kind of plastic rather than the more brittle kind, if that makes sense. I had actually gotten all these bags from my parents' stash, because I don't generally get plastic bags on my own. The blue and orange are from newspaper delivery!

Ooh you may have some better ideas than what I was thinking to make, I may have to change tack... ;)

I love the colors and it is already looking so nice. please finish the project and show us what the project is. my best guess is a doll though😂

Ha ha ha ha, yes, amigurumi plastic! 😂

Gosh, I can imagine the amount of resistance the plastic gave while knitting. I would have thought metal needles worked better. Luckily you found a solution with bamboo needles! It can get pretty rough for the fingers too right? Kudos to you for knitting a whole lot already :) I can't guess what it is :D Maybe some holder?

Yeah I had to take a break because I was forming a blister on a couple of fingers, lol. It was from when it was getting stuck on the needle so I was really pushing on the tip of the needle to get it to move. That's a bit better now that I am using the blue plastic, which is thinner, and doesn't get stuck as much. :)

A bath mat? A mat to soak up blood after a killing spree (ok, this was forced)🤣
I love the orange color and the white with flecks of color, it is amazing how much the plastic looks like yarn, a wonderful idea to use the bag which would perhaps live a boring life in a wardrobe waiting to be used again. But I can imagine that it was gruesome for the hands to knit this material. Cudos to you that you persisted! And I don’t think there is any pressure that you must finish it on Monday, I think progress photos and/or the reveal what you are working on is more than enough <3

No, I'm not disposing of any dead bodies...
untitled.gif
(that's a Breaking Bad joke, if you've never seen it, they dissolve dead bodies in acid and there's this whole thing about how you have to use the right kind of plastic container, lol)
