PURSE-ONALITY IN THE MAKING!

in NeedleWorkMonday5 months ago

Hello everyone! It's exciting to be here. This is my first post in this community and I'm happy to share with y'all what I created today with a piece of fabric. A purse is part of an expression of our style and personality, hence, a purse is more than just a piece of accessory. Today, I turned a piece of fabric into a purse that is as unique as I am. The stitches, colours and details are all expression of my elegance and creativity.

Today, I stumbled upon this old fabric I got some time ago in my closet. Initially, I had no specific project in mind as at the time I purchased it, I was just drawn the fabric because of its unique colour combination and texture. So after much contemplations I decided to create a purse with it which I somehow was in need of and I'm delighted because the end result turned out to be better than I had imagined. It took me five hours of creativity to make this purse.
Here are the materials and tools I used;
Fabric
Brown zipper
Two brown tassels and one golden tassel
Paper gum
Gold Trimmings
Sewing machine
Scissors
Measuring tape
Pearls

Let me walk you through my creative process....

I started by measuring the width and length respectively to ensure accuracy before I proceeded to cutting it and fortunately for me the fabric came with a lining, so there was no need for an extra layer.

I attached paper gum to the wrong side of the fabric. This was done to give my purse some stability and to hold the fabric in place while I worked on it.

The fabric also brought along with it some gold trimmings in which I had detached from the edge of the fabric before I began working on it. So I placed the gold trimmings horizontally, one for each sides at the center of the fabric and sewed them in place using my sewing machine. This trimmings adds beauty to my work.

Then I joined the fabric pieces together, sewing along the bottom edge and leaving the remaining sides open.

One of the fun parts was attaching the tassels. I adorned the brown and gold coloured tassels with some pearls from an old necklace which I longer wear. After fixing the pearls, I attached the brown tassels to the zipper. The tassels further beautifies my work.

Once the zipper was ready I fixed it to the top of the purse, making sure it is even and secure.

For the gold tassel, I made a loop for it using some pieces of the fabric. When the loop was ready, I attached the tassel to it and sewed the loop to the side of the purse.

Finally, I sew the last opening shut and my purse is complete and ready for use.

I had fun all through the creation process and the outcome makes me even happier. This project was a fulfilling experience and I enjoyed every bit of it as it feels me with a sense of accomplishment. Although I encountered some challenges but overcoming them made it even more interesting. I aim to continue exploring my creativity and positively contribute to the hive needle work community.
