Crochet Buttons

in NeedleWorkMonday4 years ago

I learned about crochet buttons from facebook. I originally just planned on making just one batch of earsavers because I only have a handful of buttons that were leftovers from my previous sewing projects. But here I am again on my second batch of earsavers.

As expected, I ran out of buttons and there are no craft stores open near me so there's nothing left to do but improvise.

It's quite simple actually. If you followed the link I gave at the top, the steps are easy to follow. Only, I prefer to work on a magic ring instead of mking 6sc on one chain. So the first step for my crochet buttons would be to make 6 sc on a magic ring. Slip stitch to close the ring. Make sure to leave a long tail because this will be used later. Do not pull the tail too tightly just yet.

Then, make 10sc (or 12, or more) but still in the magic ring, covering the first 6SC's. This will mke ypur button bulky and sturdy enough to hold the garter of the masks.

Slip stitch on the first sc on, fasten off. Again, leave a long tail when you fasten off, preferably as long as the end tail you made earlier. Insert the tail on the center hole, this time pull the end tail slightly tightly to close the hole at the middle.

Please excusey daughter's toy truck, she insists I include it in the background.

And now, you can go ahead and sew the buttons into the base of your earsaver using a tapestry needle or a smller sized crochet hook.

I'm gonna get some zzzzz's now. Good night eveybody. Stay safe.
